Building a web site

Does anyone please have any ideas on how to build my own website
or where to get one built cheaply. I am a small business just starting up and could really do with one to get my name around. I don't have the first clue on how to build one, but am reasonably good with a computer.
Thanks in advance:o

You need 3 things:- The domain name - if you go for a .co.uk then it will cost you less than a tenner for 2 years registration.
- Hosting - there are various cheap options around that will host a basic static site for 30 or 40 quid a year (possibly less - I can't be bothered to research).
- The design and development of the site itself. If all you want is a basic site to advertise your services then a Wordpress template would probably be sufficient. You should be able to download and install this for yourself.

I have used weebly.com and they are fantastic. I bought my domain from 123reg and paid for dedicated email rather than having email being redirected.
Weebly is really straight forward, you just drag and drop what you need.
Wix.com is another website builder you could look at.0 -
Moonfruit is one I'd recommend.
Free domain with some services, easy to customise templates and decent hosting limits.
Slightly more expensive at £70-80 a year, but if you'll need to customise a paid-for template, then it may be cheaper.

Weebly, wix, moonfruit, wordpress hosting are all fine for basic hosted websites.
If you want to use your own domain name you can buy the paid for version, alternatively you could buy a domain name and have the domain name provider point your domain to one of the free hosting services.
By buying your own domain it will give you freedom in future to expand your site by buying a your own hosting package and server space.0 -
I have found wordpress to be an excellent choice, you can make a basic site quite easily but also modify and really push it forward.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

It all depends how dirty you want to get your hands really. I opted for a template from i3dthemes, and that was about £50, and you can get either wordpress or dreamweaver template. Then all you need to do is write up the blurb, and put in some photos (i still have the stock ones on mine though). I would recommend UK2 for buying the domain and hosting, they are quite cheap, and i have found them really reliable.
Good luck with it all.0 -
I used Wix.com and bought a co.uk domain name from 123-reg. Very low cost, although I did upgrade to premium to get rid of the annoying ads on Wix - they didn't look very professional. Very easy to use though - I had no previous website building experience.0

I don't know if you're still in the market for a cheap website, but there are free and paid options readily available. A simple Google search will give you plenty of indexed information on the subject.
Vistaprint do a free option on their site which gives you template, background and layout options, but you're always better the paid option, because if your get problems with a free website then, who can you turn to for help?Lao Tzu - "Give a man a fish and feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime"

There are many templates that are easy to use and don't cost much.Work hard, play hard.0
