HSBC - Credit Card - Nobody listens

Thats one thing i had in my favour. No house so no assets. Other than my car which would have netted them very little.
I guess you need to keep them happy. Juggling things around to pay them a little on a regular schedule.
I had to giggle when they said not paying them would ruin my credit file. Too late you and the other companies have already trashed it. Your not going to make it any worse than it already is.
Late markers and defaults all around.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
the chances are if it gets sent to a debt collector they are far more reasonable in accepting what you can afford, unfortunatley you could end up paying double what you already owe in intrest and late charges, they generally wont remove this my advice is just keep paying token payments and writhing to them with a financial breakdown of income and outgoings and eventually they may listen, i am having the same issues with vanquis so know how you feel, good luckgoal for 2014....i will manage money better ..must resist shopping..............:A0

Hmm I'd be careful if I were you....if you've got a near enough mortgage free house. You've got plenty of money although tied up, to pay them back.
You wouldn't be the first I've heard of where a DCA go for not just a charging order, but bankruptcy.
I wouldn't annoy them too much.0 -

And it was HSBC that sent me a letter at the end of Dec '13 informing me that due to my situation they would be stopping the interest charges -so the letter yesterday was a bolt from the blue - almost the Left Hand & Right Hand not knowing what they are doing.
The young lady just said that the company were within their rights to issue this due to contractual non payment of minimum monthly payments - even though I have continued to make token weekly payments (I'm paid weekly) - just not enough to satisfy them.
Which brings me back to Martins advise - he makes it sound like that if you negotiate and play ball with them - which I have and make token payments -i have never said that I wont pay it back - just need a bit more time. The banks will be/have to be reasonable - yet i am seeing no proof of this whatsover.
I have until 20th February to pay back the debt in full or it goes to debt collection agency. This hasnt been going on for years - I have only been in this position for 4/5 months and my credit score is damaged now!
- and I am angry with the banks. I have been able to manage my money successfuly for 20+ years but now its all down to the computer says yes or computer says no - no human common sense or input whatsoever. The banking crisis has had a ripple affect and we are all suffering for it.
I have highlighted part of your post that may help to explain.
From what you have posted you have been struggling to pay for the last 4-5 months and during that time HSBC have been listening to you and have allowed you to make reduced payments. That's quite a long time and I think they have done well to support you for that long.
How much longer do you think they should continue to let the arrears mount up ? I'm not sure from your post what the cause of the problem is, possibly illness or loss of job ? How much longer do you expect the problem to continue for ?
No one has a crystal ball so from their perspective they have helped you out short term but ultimately they have to take steps to recover what you owe. Particularly if there is no end in sight.0
