Switching internet/phone from BT to sky. Contract?

Hi,

I want to switch from bt to sky for my phone and broadband, I already have sky tv. It will save about £13 having all with sky.

But I can't see any where on my online account about my bt contract if there is one, and if so when it ends and what penalties I would suffer by switching? Is it possible to switch mid contract?

Well this is frustrating! Every time I try to call BT I'm told by the machine no is available to speak to me and the line goes dead!

My desire to switch has strengthened!

I too find it rather odd that contract details don't seem to show up online. As for early termination charges, does this help?

As I recall when I switched, Sky took care of it all.

However, there is a lock-in with Sky; once you've gone with them you have to go back to BT before you can move to another provider.

That helps massively thanks! Not sure why I couldn't find this! Looks like I would need to be very near to the end of my contract to make it worth it. So next step is work out how long I have left, I suspect it's about a year as I think by opting in for bt sport renews the contract :(

Yes, you will have started a new minimum term when you did that.

Can you provide a link to this lock-in?

BT will always be the range holder for the OP's number, no matter how many operators they may go with over the years.

Provided there is a porting agreement set up for any subsequent porting to other operators there won't be a problem.

There is an issue with numbers where Sky themselves are the range holder, and it generally means you can't port to any other LLU operator.
