Local premier shop offers not honoured

Hi I've had a look around and seen similar threads but nothing matching so apologies if I've missed a previous.
This has been annoying me for some time now, we have a premier shop on our estate, where you get leaflets with offers on and offers stuck to windows etc for example carling lager pint cans normally £4.99 now £3.99, and many more until you walk through the door and think ill have that, on window price is reduced til end of month, pick them up take to till and woman says £4.99 please, erm no says £3.99 on offer, nah sold them ones these ones I paid more for so they not on offer? Eh? Hold on, offer says 4 cans price marked £4.99 are 3.99 til end of month? No sold all them ones, no I have some here!
Is that allowed or ? It's not just on that item it's loads of items throughout shop and if you picked a few items up without adding it up you wouldn't be none the wiser until you've paid, and realised, seems very wrong to me,
I know it's not much but I'm a on principal person and that seems wrong to me
Any ideas on whether that's allowed or frowned upon?
Thanks

Yes it's allowed, you can make an offer for a product but they don't have to accept it.
Trading standards may however be interested if they are doing this on a regular basis for unfair practice, but they can still refuse your offer.0 -
Does that apply even if its an advertised offer through the "premier" leaflet as to me that seems very misleading if I say come and grab ya self a pack of p/marked £1.75 hob nobs for merely a pound from your local premier store then say na, that pack of price marked hob nobs in your hand isn't on the offer0

That's like me saying come in til end of feb and we'll flog you a iphone 5s priced at £600 normally for only £300. Na sorry sold that one on the offer, them identical ones stacked six high aren't on that offer... Seems like baiting to me
just not right but like you say probably just slightly frowned upon

Have another look at that leaflet.
Does it say something like "all offers may not be available in all stores"?
Or perhaps "subject to availability"?
You other point, about window notices, is more serious if, as you seem to be implying, it happens frequently.
As your most recent post says, that is 'bait and switch'.
That is illegal and Trading Standards should be interested.

You will most likely see the following words on the poster/leaflet
'' All items subject to availability ''
If you actually looked at the products with a flash price on them and ones without, you would normally see that they are a different bar code. This means they are a different product.0 -

Sorry about above, blinking iphone, that's the point though they are still flash priced, same weight/volumes and still on shelf0 -
Do you have a reasonable chance to take advantage of the offers? If you go to the shop within a day or two of the leaflets are they available? Do they take the ads down from the shop window within a reasonable time of them selling out?
If not, Trading Standards might take the view that the shop is running a bait & switch.
Might be worth getting your local paper interested too.0 -
The ads are still there, the price marked products are still there but they say these ones aren't on offer cos I paid more for them. ? This is where I get confused,
they aren't out of stock they just say they paid more for these price marked items so they aren't in the offer ?
I'm in business I know we all have a margin etc but surely if you get the offer and can sell the item at a reduced rate then buy more at a dearer cost ie no longer on offer from supplier but still on offer in your store you either put on shelf and take the lower margin or keep them until offer is over at least if you genuinely can't make anything on them cos you did pay more? It's just being a decent person surely?0 -
Are you actually reading the replies?
It has been suggested that you report the store to Trading Standards.
