Would You Buy A New Jag

To be honest I think it's a very bad move, Jaguar maybe owned by TaTa but are seen as British throughout the world.... a made in India label is going to make a difference IMO.
There's a reason why VW transport Bentley bodyshells/engines to Crewe for the car to be assembled & finished, it's called "Britishness".
The same goes for BMW with Rolls royce, both could undoubtedly be "made" cheaper in Poland, Romania, India etc but... I'm pretty certain that a "made in Poland" tag wouldn't be quite as appealing to overseas buyers (USA/China both booming markets)
ETA:The strong empathy proved invaluable when in March VW said it wanted to make the SUV in Bratislava, not Crewe. “I had to fight,” says Schreiber. “I knew that our customers want a real Bentley, and a real Bentley comes from the UK, from Crewe, made by our people here. I wanted to pass this DNA and history on to our SUV too.”

Jags (and LandRovers) are still going to be built in the UK, there is massive investment in the Solihull and Castle Bromwich plant.
Don't know the details but would assume that different markets will be supplied by products built in different territories. Perhaps to do with import tax and similar issues.0 -

Spot on, JLR are also planning to build vehicles in China for that market. The OP appears to be living in the past.0 -
They don't exactly have a reputation for quality cars so will this kill the brands. It may be opening up new markets but do the country set really want their cars built in India ?
You could have made the same argument when Japanese car companies started getting their cars built in the UK, where the quality reputation was rock bottom, but nobody has any concerns about those cars now. It would probably take a while for Tata India to build that reputation but if JLR provide the input necessary to achieve it then the time will come when yes, the country set might well be prepared to buy Indian made cars.0 -
I like the older cars. Modern cars all look the same. One thing I really hate about modern cars is the elongated headlights the stretch out far into the front wings. I think it's something to do with the safety because with some old cars they barely lit up from the sides.
I think regulation now requires them to be more visible from the side. Makes them all look the same and ugly IMO.
The modern jags looks like American cars.0 -
See below. the 2006 looks distinctive and clearly a jag. If you covered the 2013 badge, and asked random people who weren't knowledgable about cars to guss what car it was. you;ll get all sorts of random answers.
2006 xj
2013
The 2013 could just as well have a mondeo badge on it. They all look the same. In fact the mondeo looks closer to what a Jag should look like

it's all down the management. The Jags will be as good as if they were built over here because the manufacturing process and assembly line will be dictated by the British engineers.
People like to berate cheap chinese products. Like all chinese products are inferior quality. But China also manufacturs iPads and playstations. Nobody criticises Chinas for those.
Their TATA cars are built for the Indian market. They're inferior quality because of lower safety stands, less demanding consumers and manufacturered to a price point.0 -

The ones made in China and South America are for those markets to get round import duty.
I would suspect that will be the case in India.
Where a car is built matters less than the quality controls and skills of the people employed to do it.
A car doesn't care if its nuts are tightened by somebody with a Brummy accent or an Indian accent.
Quality Control is everything.
All rhd Dacia Dusters are made in india for example.
Are they any better or worse than those made in Eastern Europe. Issues with rust on some white ones aside.0 -

What are you talking about?
A Jag looks nothing like a Mondeo.0
