New System Update Available, Experia M?
Hi Just bought an' Experia M' smartphone. On charging for the first time it said an update was available, of which I did download the update 15.1.C.2.8. But 'am still left with a msg saying '15.1.C.2.8 Computer required' Even when I check the updates on the phone it does say its up todate & on connecting to PC, 'PC Companion is' mentioned for download? Is this the reason I still have a msg about a new system update available, which won't disappear? Do you have to download 'PC Companion'? Is it required? At the moment there's no new sim card in so worried about memory. I am new to smartphones.

I don't see why you wouldn't want to downlaod PC companion, that is where I accept all my system downloads from, back up your phone transfer data etc.0

I was just unsure at first & not sure if enough memory, until I get a new sim card.

The SIM card makes no difference to this as it is a system update. If you plug your phone into your computer and then look at the phone screen it will probably ask you if you want to install PC companion anyway. Just say yes and follow the instructions. If not download it from Sony's website. Its simple to use. Just open it up and go into the support zone.“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0

It sounds like you have only downloaded the update and not installed it, it is safer to do it via the PC, as the prgram backs up the device, removes the current OS and replaces it with a new one, then replaces the user data, can take about 20 mins all in.0 -
OK the phone does say it as the latest update. OK so I'll head to sony website for update. Thxjoe2cool0
