I need a usb plug charger so i can charge my mobile phone (i already have the cable that plugs into phone)

Does everyone just buy these from ebay for the cheapest they can? I have heard stories of them catching fire, so just wanted to make sure i didnt buy a dodgy one.

They are quite expensive on the high street, i saw one in tesco for £10 yesterday....

Any idea's where i can pick up a cheap one that is decent quality please?

I bought a Kindle one from Amazon

Not necessarily the cheapest, but at least it ought to actually charge the Kindle, I reckoned, when USB ports on two computers would not.

Since then I bought a 3g router secondhand, and that came with mains/USB charger and lead
  • I would buy a proper mains charger rather than a USB one. Usually much faster. Are you sure you don't have an old charger in a drawer somewhere? I charge my Nexus 5 with chargers from Blackberry, Samsung, Apple, whatever is closest. I charge it with the TV, HiFi, and obviously the computer. What I'm getting at is, do you need to buy another charger?

All phones these days come with those new USB mains type chargers (at least thats what i thought?)

I dont have any older gadgets with that type of pin connection.

I want it to charge my motorola moto G but especially for times when i dont have any other USB device to charge it from.

None at all, I use one to power a Raspberry-Pi, so it runs 24 hours/day.

I always go for Amazon - either Amazon itself or fulfilled by Amazon. None of my gadgets have burst into flame. Yet.
  • I was in Tesco recently and saw they were selling a USB mains charger for £9.

Personally, having read stories about the dubious chargers out there, I'm rather wary of getting something that I wouldn't be sure of.
