Or save for retirement i.e. a pension.

Or simply that discretionary disposable income is falling as the cost increases for necessary items are outstripping wage increases. If indeed there are any wage increases at all.

Never mind that good old panacea, wage inflation, is just around the corner that will lift all boats faster than a swollen river Parrett.

  • House prices are rising everybody who values hard work should be happy and rejoice. We went through the tough times. The HPC chain gang tried to bring us down but we stood tall and said no sir this house was built on rock and roll and we won't allow prices to fall. Now prices are rising. The hard working man and women can get aboard the choo choo gravy train.
  • We bought out 4 bedroom detached new build (with garden and double driveway) for £182k (with stamp duty paid by Halifax), in Cheshire.

It's larger room wise than the 1970s 3 bedroom detached my parents purchased and i grew up in. Good size garden with a protected field / walking area joined to a chapel at the rear. So no chance of property overlooking.

Can't afford housing? Move to the North West or North East ;).

Prices so high no one will be able to buy your house off you.

    Result.
    It is a result.

When prices get too high the market corrects and prices drop. Those who plan accordingly to buy property, those who don't plan will complain about house prices being too high on internet forums.
