Buy only from Amazon. Amazon CS are good.

Problem is it is becoming harder and harder to buy directly from Amazon with all these marketplace crooks. Yes some will be genuine but why should I spend my money to find out?

Amazon need to shut down marketplace.

An extremely overdue reply but I managed to obtain a full refund thanks to PayPal, the case was finalized as the laptop being faulty and Scan were forced to refund me.

I would suggest anyone buying from Scan use PayPal as I've had nothing but trouble with them as of late.

One thing here sounds like BS to me. I seriously doubt that simply restoring to factory settings is going to fix a keyboard fault. They did something else to fix it IMO although it was probably something simple like reseating the ribbon feed or blowing out a chunk of mince pie.

I thought the same, as, surely, a keyboard malfunction, on just some keys, is a case of faulty hardware or, as you say, something caught underneath the keys.

I have already received the refund for the laptop minus the 10% restocking fee and delivery.

Here's the video I made prior to returning the laptop:

According to Scan (as I previously stated) they formatted twice and have since resold the laptop to a new buyer with no problems reported.

But It's completely my word against theirs, If I didn't want the laptop I would of just sent it back under the DSR, not claiming it as faulty.

I no longer require the laptop as I had to purchase another seeing as It was a Christmas present but I would have accepted a replacement at the time.

If they have formatted the laptop then they have repaired it as formatting clears all the windows software which includes any faulty keyboard and mousepad drivers and fresh drivers are installed when they install windows back on it. this would then make the laptop work fine.
it is also likely it was just a faulty keyboard which they replaced in 3 minutes.

Glad you got it sorted. A customer who buys a brand new laptop (advertised with an OS) should not have to reinstall the OS to get the laptop to work. Sounds like the hardware itself wasn't faulty, but something between it and the sofware was. That's the retailer's problem.
