Hi,
I've found that by using a dehumidifier all the time I can use a convector heater when in there. There's no damp feel when I go in. Without the damp the heater seems to heat it up more quickly and the dehumidifier keeps everything rust free.
A must is a heater with a timer in case I forget to switch it off
I also have insulating plaster board on the walls and roof - that made an instant difference, oh, and carpet off-cuts on the floor to keep my feet warm!
