Export a car with outstanding finance
Dear All,
Apologize if this is not a right place to ask but will someone know If it possible to export a car with outstanding finance on it ? I bought this car year ago without a knowledge that there is still some finance on it.
I have paid 10,000 so as you can imagine I don't want to lose those money. In two months time I'm going abroad for few months that why I thought to export this car over there.
Thanks

Ask the finance company. Theirs is the only opinion which matters.
But, if you're only going for a "few months", then just keep it UK-registered. The hassle factor and expense of registering it in another country can be huge - you don't want to be doing it lightly.0 -
What do you intend doing with the car at the end of the few months?
Sell it abroad? Take it back to the UK?
If you are meaning to take it out of the UK for a few months and then back again - that isn't exporting it.0 -

I doubt that you can legitimately export the car as there is a question over ownership. If there is outstanding finance the finance company owns the car - you do not. It is therefore not yours to export, even if you purchased it without knowing. Although I am amazed that you spend £10K on a car without spending a few pounds on an HPI check!
It is not unusual in cases where cars have been purchased 'in good faith' that the individual has been allowed to keep title to them. However, this process requires discussion with the finance company. I would suggest that you speak with them before taking any action.0 -
I bought the car from the garrage and I have seen HPI - I believed that time that everythink is ok with the car - they provided HPI but it was a fake copy. The garrage dosent exist anymore - they run out to Pakistan
The Finance company have tried to take the car away from me but Im just not willing to give them a car They are trying to do everything but not to take me to the court as they will lose( 'in good faith'). So I thought that I could export this car and sell it. Send to DVLA V5 with export section but dont know if this will work. I dont care if they will take me to the court - I will love to go to the court with them.
I`m from Italy so please forgive my english0 -

Hiya, I dont think this is the case at all - unfortunately the car belongs to them so they have every chance of winning if it goes to court. Unfortunately it is their car.0 -

WOAH! STOP RIGHT THERE!
No, that won't work. If they have a legitimate claim, they have a legitimate claim. If they can't reclaim the car, they can still go after you for the value. There may even be criminal charges if you knowingly take it outside their reach.
GET THE FINANCE QUESTION SORTED PROPERLY.
B'sides, it won't be worth as much in a LHD country.0 -
Buying in good faith isn't a valid defense in Court...it would mean you don't get prosecuted for handling stolen goods, but the vehicle still isn't yours.
You need to talk to the finance company, but any attempt to take the vehicle away or sell it on could be considered a theft.
How much is owed on the vehicle?0 -
They can just report you for stealing their car. Unless your moving abroad forever then its not the way to go.
You should always HPI a car yourself unless your willing to lose the money you paid for it.
Come to an arrangement to buy the car from them?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Even if the OP is thinking of moving back to Italy, there's the European Arrest Warrant to consider.0 -
Yep shame you aren't a US citizen. You can bump someone off in Italy then and not have to worry about it...
As said though, speak to the finance company. Ignoring it will not make things end well. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0
