our household is about to be graced by an iphone 5s shortly, it will be bought outright from the Apple store, so now I'm looking around for the best SIM.

I see T-mobile (we have one phone on this network at the moment, it works well) has a rolling one-month contract for £13, which gives 1gb data, unlimited texts, and 500 minutes.

The iphone will be set to look for wifi and home wifi of course, not to automatically sync or update (and I'll make sure its both sim and phone locked).

Is there a better deal out there for a payg sim for the iphone?

I don't want a contract, but don't mind a 12-month payg deal (if thats the right terminology?)

i don't think that would work well - i think the phone will mostly be used for data, however the 3 plan at £12.90 looks good with all-you-can-eat-data - what does this mean in real life?

    Define 'better'.
If you insist on 1Gb, the same deal is 1x£11 or just 12x£8.80 at ChitterChatter or 1x£10 at Giffgaff.

Cheaper deals can be found for 500Mb that can be sufficient with correct settings, depending on the actual usage.

No, it isn't. PAYG can't be a 12-month deal. Only a contract can.
  • Currently t mobile are offering unlimited calls/texts/data for £16 pm on a 12 month contract...usual price £26 pm. You'll need to call them up to get this deal which they offered me a few days agohttp://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/sim-only/plans/

Have you looked at tesco mobile sim only deals?

I don't think 500mb will be enough to be honest - I occasionally go over that on my android phone.
