Start New contract before cancelling old

unmissable

I am about to move house, (we already own the house it has just been empty for 6 months). The house we are moving to used to have Talk Talk fibre broadband and phone. We currently have Talk Talk fibre broadband and phone. I would like to get Talk Talk Fibre Broadband and phone and Tv at the new house; the package and price suits.
Talk Talk will not transfer my number (even though on the same exchange) and everybody I know who has recently moved with Talk Talk has ended up with 2-3 weeks without internet. So I gain nothing by using teh transfer service.
Could I start a contract as a new customer at the new house (and thus get Quidco discount etc) and cancel the current contract later (it has been running for over 24 months , so no tie in). I would rather pay double for a few weeks, than go without for a few weeks, and the new Customer discounts would more than make up for this!
Any thoughts?

assuming your are not out of any minimum term (which sounds like you are)
Then theres no reason you cant do that.
keeping your old number could be difficult, did you want to ?0 -
Personally if TT couldnt just transfer me i would go elsewhere.

I have a feeling they don't allow you to choose the numbers because if they did, people would be trading telephone numbers like license plate numbers.0

Thanks Guys.
I don't really want to move from TT because they have the cheapest package which suits me, but my friends who have moved have had a nightmare.
If they promised me £10.00 for everyday without service, I would jump at it. But all they have done with my friends is delay, visit, delay some more, blame BT open Reach, delay some more etc etc
I am sure that as a 'new customer' they would probably bend over backwards to ensure I got what I wanted.0
