I now have a new gift for those moving house!

Not just a corkscrew, can spanner & wooden spoon (my default relocation gift package), but also the phone number for a local locksmith who can bring cylinder changing doings with, as well as a full replacement lock service.

Don't forget to get a quote first. Somebody I know called out a locksmith recently who charged her £150 to change the lock on the front door after she had stuff stolen from her house by somebody who let themselves in with a key (thinks it was her neighbour using the key she had left with them for an emergency).

indeed- my conservatory door cylinder is a very odd size that i couldn't find in b&q wickes etc. Definitely worth taking the old one with you to a shop just in case.
This site explains how to measure your old Eurolock to ensure you buy the correct replacement. They'll also supply:

  • Yes change the locks, thinking of my house there must be ten keys with various people over the years. When we moved in, we were given one key, not very likely is it?

Round here, give a locksmith a ring, they might do a moving in package for less than £100.
