Why not contact the Solicitor that represented you and request your file. The documents contained in the file are your property.
Are they regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority ?

Yes you can :) If there is a charge, it may just be for photocopying.
The original documents are your property. They keep the copies.

Check here to see if they are regulated.

I agree with the suggestion above.

So they have taken their fee out of your husband's settlement.

Have you expressed your concerns with the solicitor in writing on their failure to sort this out yet?

I would read up on all the guidelines on the site above as well about complaining about a solicitor and potentially the ombudsmen if it doesn't get sorted.

All the best with getting this finalised I'm sure it's the last thing you both need. x

The solicitors claimed there fees separately as far as im aware which was 4 times my husbands amount. The CRU was taken out of my husbands award.

I will have a good read of that tomorrow.

I did express my concerns to the solicitor before and after settlement via email and the most recent message to myself was to say the case was now closed and files archived and i was best to sort it myself. That was regarding the CRU certificate that im trying to get revised as i told her i needed some information for them to reconsider. Luckily i searched through all the paperwork i had here and found some bits that i sent off. If it does go to appeal though i may not have all documents needed so i will try and request copies tomorrow so i have them.

To be honest its been a nightmare from start to finish. She missed getting in touch with the medical expert, she missed a deadline for something else and then gave us the 1st offer and said she could get more but then on another offer we got less as the CRU certificate had changed. I told her it was incorrect but she said i have to sort that after we accepted claim. She also missed off that my husbands job had made his condition worse before the accident.

    many thanks

Sounds a nightmare and very wrong that she ended up getting 4 times what your husband did in fees. That seems to have been the priority for her then with the settlement!

I wonder how many others have ended up in the same situation :( ?

Really hope you get somewhere in sorting it all out. x
