Slow computer

i dont know how old your computer is but if its a 32 bit machine and you want to replace it, especially buying 2nd hand, ENSURE it is 64 bit motherboard as that is the current architecture. 32bit is defunct and you cant install more than 3 gb of ram where as the newer ones you can install a far greater amount and use more powerful processors on them.

netbooks are being phased out. it all depends on what you want to do with your device if you need to use certain applicatoins then get a laptop if not get an android based tablet to keep costs down.

I decided to bring it over to my house so the kids could use it for homework really, we have an ipad but the laptop went bang the other week and it was going to cost too much to repair

What drivel, if the 32bit achitecture has support for PAE then Linux can address up to 64GB, as can Macs (on intel platforms)

it will speed it up considerably ...Much better than ram or processor upgrade ..and it is fairly easy ..

Just use the serial number to identify it and come back with the details.
Automatic or manual, just move forward....don't be concerned with the distractions of 32-bit, SSDs and CPU upgrades....
