How about this then? Already had a cambelt done, the one I went to see has not had it's cambelt done. At least if the clutch goes it won't **** up the engine in the process.

What has the clutch got to do with the cambelt? I am lost here.

My god where the hell you looking for cars.

I wont by that out of principal he is aware of the fault and want a customer pay for it, or take it without working clutch for less but what if there are other problems he certainly don't sound like the trader to accept faults are his problem. why wont he get the clutch done? cheap as chips, to trader and sell it for more then?

sounds to me it has more than faulty clutch if he wont get it done himself.

Are you buying a tale and chat or a car ?
No 14 year old Fiesta is worth £1100.

The chances of it getting another MOT are slim, very slim indeed.
    Be happy...;)

I think that's why it's only £600 to be fair, he's a mechanic the car is a part ex and he's selling it privately because it's too cheap to be worth a warranty.

This does seem to be the going rate for these cars at the dealerships I have been looking in.

A dealer selling it privately doesnt mean its too cheap for a warranty its because he is selling a lemon and wants no comebacks.

Going rate at a dealership. Yes because they will have some form of protection where you are getting nothing except a lemon he cant sell any other way.

Have a think about it. If other dealers are selling them why cant he?

  • They are selling them for quite a bit more.

I am struggling to find any of these elusive cheap Fiestas near me.

Prior to my earlier thread, thread I have found a nice used Fiesta I can buy for just 1100. They guy sounds genuin, he talks wryly about his love of Saabs and how he "does anti corrosion work on the sills of all the cars that pass through him" He's openly given out the address of his garage and his home address, although it would says he only takes cash or "internet cheques" (what is that?). It's it's a 2000 model Fiesta Ghia, 1 owner full history only 48,000 miles 1095, does that sound too cheap or about right?

Your budget would buy you a very nice 2003 new model fiesta.

You should be looking for something like and chipping the price back a bit.

  • That's a different class altogether but may be too far from Beachley Walk.

  • Does it HAVE to be a fiesta? If you have £1,000 to spend on a small car, there are lots and lots of options out there for you to look at and test drive :)

A K11 Nissan Micra would be cheaper to buy, cheaper to run, more reliable and there are plenty around for much much less than £1k
