broken mobile -guarantee void

My son has a Motorola which he has had for less than a year. He dropped it and damaged the back a few weeks ago but it was still working fine. It stopped working altogether yesterday but EE are refusing to honour the guarantee because of the cosmetic damage.

Does he just have to swallow it (not literally!), or is it worth pursuing? He is already extremely unhappy with EE because he was getting phone calls from a debt collecting company when EE actually owed him money.

Thanks in advance for any help.

User damage will generally void any warranty I'm afraid. So not really worth pursuing.

It was working for a good while after it was damaged though, so it may well be that they are 2 separate issues. However, I realise it would be difficult to prove that.

  • If you had insurance you could try to claim through that.
