I would assume it is not structured - it would just pay off the emergency credit until it is repaid and only then is the balance used for standing charges. Is it a moot question - emergency credit is only £5 - can you even still buy top-ups

assumptions usually followed up evidence or realistic theories to back them up....i think you might of meant "i havent the foggiest but i can guess" yes £5 can be put on. no emergency credit isnt taken first. no emergency credit isnt just £5. no standing charges are not taken last. and no, it is not a " moot question" maybe u could be "moot" ;-) unless you can tell me 43numbers that wont be picked in tonights lottery.

    example.
gas has been off for a few days
    £10 credit bought

    £3.00 for gas
£2.42 for standing charge debt (accrued while off)
    £4.58 for emergency credit

    standing charge debt still outstanding
    emergency still showing as used

I did have a look at this, and thought that I might be able to explain it - but I'm not sure you are really looking for help.

The best way to get help is to ask all your question - not hold back bit of it until people have tried to help.
When people offer their opinions, don't insult them - it puts off other people who may be able to help you.

Anyway - Emergency Credit is still showing as used as you have only paid off £4.58 of the £5 (or more) that you borrowed.

You don't say how much standing charge debt is still outstanding, so I'd only be guessing at why that has happened.
    Don't want to assume now...
