Help me find the right plan for my mother!
Hi all,
Can anyone help me find the best package for my mother?! She is a very light user, spending approx. £5 month on calls and texts (Tesco pay as you go). But she now has a smart phone so we are looking into data - her current tariff costs 10p per MB of data.
Is it possible to get PAYG data based on amount of data used? I've found lots that are based on number of days access (with limits obviously) but still feel the limits are excessive for my mum.
I've found some monthly plans for approx. £7 month that include a decent amount of data - but as they also include lots of text messages and as we are doing this predominantly to give her access to whats app, this seems counterintuitive.
Anyone got any tips as to the best way forward?
Cheers!

Thanks kingrulzuk!
Do you (or anyone else) know of any others similar to this with other networks? I had hoped to avoid the three network if possible (for reasons I won't get into here!)0 -

Calleja - If you are happy with the Tesco Mobile service you can get a monthly bundle at £5 for 500Mb of data. You could try that for a month to see how it goes.
It only works if you have the credit in your phone and it is accessed through the 282 services number.
It renews automatically each month as long as there is £5 credit in the phone, if not it cancels but you can restart it when more credit is added.0 -
Sounds like Ovivo would be perfect. You dont get ADs interrupting apps, only when browsing so it shouldnt be too intrusive.0

As OVIVO is free after the initial £20 which gives £15 credit which is difficult to use for low users
£0pm for 200mins 300texts and 500Mb data a month, yes £0pm.
Referrals now get £5 and move a number for £3.
That is the benchmark to decide if you want to be paying anything monthly0 -
I agree, either Ovivo if a few adverts are OK interspersed with the browsing or "3" and 3 2 1.
If your issues with "3" are related to a contract, don't be concerned with a PAYG 3 2 1 SIM. Order online and your SIM appears. You will never have to talk to an Indian call centre, promise !
I use Ovivo on a device on which I mostly use apps. As a result I seem to get lots of adverts when I use the browser. Not by any means unreasonable since this is supposed to be the way of funding the service but actually I think 3 2 1 is worth the money on balance.
You may also find "3" a better network for data than Ovivo (Vodafone) although Ovivo may be better for calls.0 -
Thanks all. Yes, I'm just careful, my issues with 3 are customer-service related, due to an absolutely dreadful encounter I have experienced myself! I appreciate PAYG is low risk in this regard, but it also pains me to support a company I have had issues with previously and who I suspect have dubious sales techniques. But it would be silly to cut my nose off to spite my face.
Ovivo sounds interesting....as both require getting the phone unlocked, I guess we can try one and if that doesn't suit, just switch.
Appreciate all the tips! Thanks again.0
