Changing contract part way through?
Been with T-Mobile since May last year. I have a HTC One SV with 1Gb internet, 50 minutes and 250 texts for £15.50 per month. I don't use more than 500mb (this is rare) per month and no more than 50 texts per month. I don't call that much either. But the minutes are there should I need them.
Can't find anything on my account which says I can change what I get part way through. Does anyone know if I can downgrade part way through my contract please? The contract was done through Phones 4 U.
Thank you.

No, You can t downgrade part way through. If this was possible we would all be getting stupidly expensive iphone contracts then 'downgrading' to something we can afford once we have the shiny new phone.0

But what I'm asking for is different. And it's not as if I've got a stupidly expensive phone either.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

You agreed to a contract when you started, they'll hold you to it. That's the point of a contract it binds both parties to the terms.0

You may also find at the end that T-mobile claims you cannot downgrade to a lower tariff (?!) even out of contract. They tried it with me, but quickly changed their tune when I asked to speak to a manager.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0

How is it different? And even if they would (which they won't), you are already on a very low user tariff anyway. The only component that could be downgraded there is the data. But it's not going to happen.
That handset is worth around £275 new. That's quite expensive in my book. Until they've earned that back, they're not in profit. No free lunch, and no free laptop

A few years ago it was possible to downgrade the tariff part of the way through, but it's gone out of fashion as margins have got tighter phones more expensive and contracts longer.0

On £15.50pm, and assuming 24m min term, that's a gross income from the contract of only £372. No idea what P4U pay wholesale for the handsets, but it's not going to be a big earner for them on those figures. No free lunch, and no free laptop

No. Its not different. You have a 'free' phone and a set monthly payment (which looks like an incredibly low tariff). You would struggle to get sim only for that price. You want to keep the phone but pay less. Its exactly the same thing.0
