Carphone warehouse loyalty incentive

Mine and my partners '12 month claim line rental back' contracts were coming to an end at carphone warehouse. I was dead organised, cancelled mine, ordered us both a phone from mobileshop (18month free line rental). He didn't get round to cancelling his contract - in the end, CPW called him and said that if he would stay with them for another 12 months, they would credit his account with a £300 loyalty bonus and put him on a £25/month contract. Essentially another year for free but we don't even have to pay out and claim back!
I'd never heard of anyone doing this before, is this very common, or was he just lucky?

(PS we never even use all our months minutes and txts)

Common. I turned it down for reasons which would not be valid for most, but hated doing it!

I got the same deal. They told me they only offered it to 5 customers a day but I don't know if that was just marketing talk. Be sure that they do actually credit your account with the £300. My £300 hasn't appeared yet, but when I phoned them yesterday, they assured me it was on its way.
