For quite a few years now my cat loves to lick photos-the photo side of course.Apparently it's because there's a layer of gelatine on that side.
She's likes this so much that I keep two photos on the floor just for her to lick.It never occured to me that is might not be good for her ie chemicals on the photo surface.Should I stop letting her do this?

Cats really are weird, mine like to lick plastic bags.
No idea whether it's bad for them though? The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
I don't know if it's bad for them.
One of mine eats plastic bag handles, elastic (the type that's wrapped in cotton), hair bobbles and tin foil. He doesn't eat the tin foil balls that we make for them to play with though.0 -
Thanks.Yes,cats can be weird.Another example-no uncovered loaf is safe from her as she loves to lick bread. One of her nicknames is 'The Phantom Bread Licker'.
I have to take her to the vet's soon for her annual check-up and vaccinations,so I'll ask then.I am inclined to stopping letting her licks photos though.0 -
One of mine likes to get on the bed when I'm asleep and lick my hair!0

I can't comment on whether or not it's doing your cat any good but a couple of my cats have odd tastes.
One absolutely loves plastic in any form but especially plastic rulers, he chomps away quite happily on them and he also loves hair bobbles.
Another one loves to eat plastic bags, well I say eat she sort of punches a row of neat holes in them with her teeth.
George has an obsession with the smell of bleach, when I've bleached the kitchen floor he'll roll around for hours on it long after I've stopped smelling it. He doesn't lick it though.
They are all partial to baked beans.0 -

Mines the same. I have to lock him out of any room I use bleach in because he goes mad for it. I get the same reaction when I use Vicks.0 -

Not sure but he's like a demon possessed with Vicks. The first time it happened he tried to do a forward roll on my chest.0 -
Cats have chosen to live with me for over 40 years and I have never come across such rubbish. Let them do as they please. Is it really worth a forum post?0
