Divorce is it worth it?

To the OP, in answer to the original question, i think the aggrieved party comes out worse in a divorce whether that be emotionally or financially.
Its a sad situation your friend finds himself in, but im sure your support is helping him. Its best if he is open rather than keeping it all inside. My feeling is he should progress with contacting a good solicitor to start moving on, never easy, however the realtionship does appear to be broken and i assume no way back for him ( I was in a similar position, but the children were taken and moved in with the new boyfriend). A difficult time for me, but family and friends supported).
I progressed divorce proceedings, managed to keep the family home however did have to find a cash sum to split the equity in the house and a % of my pension. My wife had legal aid, i didnt, wasnt a huge wage earner but got thru it all.
The hardest part was and still is, it did affect my Son and daughter who were 4 and 2 at the time.
My ex wife was selfish and put herself first.
Your friend will get thru it, though best to get some legal advice from CAB and then make some strong decisions. Pls pass on my support to him.0 -
Thanks for the responses. Do they tend to stay with the partner they have left the marriage for? I think he deeps down thinks it might filter out and she returns to him. I am trying to tell him that he has got to accept that it is over.No Matter what you do there will be critics.0

She can not return to him if he has not let her goThe word "dilemma" comes from Greek where "di" means two and "lemma" means premise. Refers usually to difficult choice between two undesirable options.
Often people seem to use this word mistakenly where "quandary" would fit better.0 -
Yes we have told him to try and move on and let the marriage go, but he holds out hope. I said that she has moved on and it is time he does despite how much it hurts. I just hope she gets hurt (horrible I know)No Matter what you do there will be critics.0
