  • Hi folks, remember me??? Actually read the MSE emails I keep getting as it had a thing about VM putting their prices up again. I am now looking to move or try and get my bill down. I currently pay £42 for BB and phone. wish I didn't need the phone line as I don't use it for anything :(
I know I talk to some of you still on FB but excuse me if I have forgotten whos username is who!

Update to those who don't know me on FB. Kitchen is done, had a lot of hassle with it and it took nearly 8 weeks to complete rather than 2-3 due to men that fit a kitchen as good as a three year old! But its done now and makes the rest of the house look very very tired.
Am currently saving for my bathroom but my car is now in the garage and the funds may now be needed for a new car instead. I will know by Thursday when I hopefully get my car back with a newly fitted gearbox and clutch that cost about as much as the car is worth.

My DD is now 16 and gets her GSCE results on Thurs. She is already looking at uni places and what courses she needs to do. It is scary to think she will be out in the horrible world we live in but she has a good head on her shoulders and I know she will do well.

Still single but liking it that way, too many of my friends (and my sister) are going through a rough time and I am better off out of it and concentrating on my business in my spare time from my day job (which I am really not liking at the moment and wish I could work somewhere else with a better boss but is the grass always greener?)

Hope everyone is good and things are going great for you.

  • thanks greent. She has been stressing all week. This time tomorrow shw will know. The thing she is saying is people look more at your A levels than your GCSE and the school will take her in 6th form no matter what she gets.

GCSEs will be less important going forward than A levels to your daughter - but right now GCSEs are very important to her and her friends! :D If she's staying on in the VIth form at the same school she currently attends they'd quite likely take her even if she missed out on one grade if they knew it was an anomaly for her as they know her study record. The one where I invigilate does that but it will have the VIth formers resit Eng/Maths if required grade just missed (A rare occurrence, but sometimes happens). However, I'm sure your DD will do just fine and get in no problems :) x

  • Yes her teachers have already told her they will take her in their subjects. She did want to be a publisher but has now changed her mind and wants to be a child psychologist. The subjects she now needs to do in 6th form have changed and she now needs to do biology and maths as well as English and sociology which she was already planning to do but the groups of subjects collide and she cant do all she wants. It will be an interesting conversation with her teachers tomorrow.

  • Thanks, yeah really chuffed for her. In old money she got 1 A** for maths, 3 A*, 2 A, 3 B (all science she hates)

2 distinction stars in music and business.

Her maths teacher is gutted she is not carrying on maths but its not in her plan.
She is doing 3 essay based subjects in 6th form but that is her thing she is good at.

Absolutely fab results by your DD there - that's a proud mum moment :) :T :T

My DD did all essay based subjects for A2 (history, Eng Lang, Eng Lit with AS of Film Studies and EPQ on HPotter :D) - they need to do subjects that they are both good at and interested in. The step from GCSE to A2 is surprisingly difficult and some get caught out!
