  • Hi Pearla Merle. Thanks for asking :D
Its quite nice to have that cushion of spare cash and I have gone completely off the wagon and have not been careful with money for the last few months. I have a new partner (early days only a few months in) but this has happened because now I am MF I have joined a few Meetup groups to start getting out and meeting new people. So I've been having a bit of a social life for once and that doesnt come cheap!! Had a couple of UK breaks and days out and not worrying about the spending.

I really need to get back onto it tho (although new partner is a plumber so cheap rates on parts and labour ;) ) I have a bit of money put aside and a list as long as my arm of things I would like to do. Including in that though is a holiday abroad which doesnt come cheap as we havent done that for 6 years since the free tesco points ones we used to have, them were the days :(

I dont think any work is going to be started until after xmas so hoping my boiler makes it through winter!

Does anyone do wombling here, I have joined the FB page but I dont think I have the nerve to go round looking for receipts lol

  • Did you choose the new chap with one eye on your boiler? Seriously though, it is lovely to hear that you are out and about and having fun. Brilliant. X
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D

Lovely to hear you're enjoying yourself, and especially to hear that love is in the air :smileyhea How wonderful :T
a penny picker upper. MFW approx 78% to go | FIRE 3 years worth (30% savings rate: now aiming for 40%!) | Normality is a paved road; it's comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it | Whatever you're meant to do, do it now. The conditions are always impossible | The only thing you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library
  • My eyebrows raised when he told me his profession hahaha!
Being MF has changed my life already. I used to be a hermit and now my kids say are you going out again mum. Feel a bit guilty to be honest but I need to live as well. They wont thank me for staying home when in a couple of years they are all out and about having fun!! :)

GG remembers she is friends with ND on fb.
    GG goes stalking.
GG thinks she has a possible hit.
GG comes back to say she, and therefore all of MSE, approve :D

Seriously ND, well done in getting out there - you're far too young and attractive to stay on your own :T. And well done on treating yourself as well - you've worked so hard for it :j
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

A massive achievement, even more so doing it on your own! You have been so focused and determined over the years and I am so glad to see it has all paid off for you, also it's great to hear you have met a lovely man - After all this hard work you deserve a bit of fun :)

    All the best, newgirly.
    MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁
  • I'm not sure if you would see who it is GG, ;) he's a very private man. But we went to St Neots one day and he 'allowed' me to tag him lol. We just had a long weekend near the Yorkshire moors so may put some pics up of lots of fields later ;)
