  • Just looked at an old SS I used to use which compared what my mortgage would be if no OPs and it shows my mortgage would be £61,470!! I am very happy with that, my monthly interest would have been £142 instead of £67 :)

Had a call with my old broadband company tonight as they had taken out their normal payment even though I had an email saying my account was closed AND I had cancelled my DD on my account. They took the money out and then sent me an email saying my details were incorrect and I would be charged if DDs could not be collected on time!! Cheek. He was very nice about it on the phone and apologetic but what if I budget down to my last penny and this was taken out at the end of the month, that could have took me into an overdraft. (not that I have been in my overdraft for about 8 years!!) At least he did the refund there and then while I was still on the phone. grrr

    Hi again norfolkdream,

I think I may know who you were and just wanted to say you are still doing great. Your mortgage figure is fab now so well done you. You should be really proud of what you have achieved so far and I can def see you getting your dream. :)
  • Thanks Ally. It feels great to be in the twenties :)
The dream seems so far away but at least theres a plan.

The words on here I am going to put in a frame so I can visually see it to inspire me -

I can't speak with any real knowledge of Norfolk, but I worked there for 6 months and holidayed several times in various sc cottages. I'm really fond of the place. I'd have loved to move to Norwich if it wasn't quite so far from OH's work in London...

Really agree with the having a dream bit too.

    Best of luck!!

  • Thanks carshark88. I am not sure what the prices are like in Norwich. I keep looking at different villages so will have to do some exploring and see which ones I like the best. (although a lot could change in 6/7 years) I will probably go for a daytrip over easter. I am hoping if I find one I like I can get to know the locals before the big leap and they wont be so hostile ;):o

Menu plan day 1 done tonight, we had beef/tomato/veg stewy casseroley thing. :) I filled it up with loads of veg and I still feel so full now and we ate at 5pm so I might even save on peckishness ;) I have enough left over for 2 more evening meals which I am really chuffed about. DS was moaning a bit about it as he doesnt really do tomatoey sauces but he ate it, DD gulped it down. She makes me feel good as she is loving my new found cooking from scratch and eats it up before me! I dont really do cooking, used to say I wasnt very good at it or didnt have the time BUT in reality I was lazy with it, bought ready meals that I could chuck in the oven. Now I cook once and have 2 other HM ready meals that are healthier. It does take a bit of time out of my morning before work preparing it all and am thinking I could probably prepare the veg at night and leave it in the fridge?
Made a deal with DS that I will do one healthy, one not so healthy so tomorrow is egg, ham and chips hehe. If he doesnt eat the healthy then the next night will be healthy again. He cant go without his weekly pizza on a thursday :)

Batch cooking "ready meals" for the kids is one of my favourite aspects of being a mfw. My cooking is rather dull, but hopefully nutritious and I'm getting quite devious about hiding various veg in things... I feel a bit guilty I'm just heating so much up and then have to remind myself that I did cook it from scratch and freeze it myself first, lol!

I left because there were no job/career prospects beyond bar/kitchen work (which incidentally was very helpful in paying my way through Uni).

The seaside towns are expensive, and can be over run with visitors in the summer. There's a price premium round the coast, so you may want to consider looking very carefully at where you want to be. Much of the coast now has lots of offshore and onshore windfarm development too.

Oh - and transport links are atrocious. They like to keep the foreigners out

However, it is still 'home' to me, and I do love the huge skies and sense of space that you get there.

I am so sorry greenbee, I completely missed your post. The job prospect is the let down, it seems a place to retire realistically. I am thinking to move more inland but close enough for a quick drive to the sea (or a long walk!) and close enough for working. I have 6/7 years to investigate :D
