Hi , can anyone advise me .

I am looking for an new PAYG sim deal for my mother, she is currently on Lebara as she need the phone to call the USA , India , india at least once an week . All was fine but lately i have found that she is going through credit due to the high costs of calling / Texting UK phones which is quite expensive when using Lebara.

I have been looking at Giff Gaff as their international rates are very good as well the UK calls costs.

Any ideas would be great

thanks advance

How many UK minutes and texts does she need?
How many minutes to USA and India?

Without this your question doesn't make much sense.

Can't she use a landline for calls abroad? Is her mobile a smartphone?

    Thanks for the replies

She has an basic Nokia phone which she prefers to use rather than the landline as it is loaded with the numbers she needs without using calling cards etc.

I would say she makes around 20 - 30 mins of international calls an week and around 20 mins of UK calls and 20 texts a week .

I thought that people were using calling cards in public phones only.

Register with 1899 and calls to USA/India will cost 4p+1p/m with a simple 1899 prefix.

And most (all?) modern landline handsets have a memory for numbers too.

Well, for this usage (not big really) '3' seems to be a good and a simple option costing just about £5 p.m.

For much more minutes (but limited to 3 foreign numbers) I like O2 International Favourites where £10 give you 3000(!) minutes p.m.

Why couldn't she get 2 SIM card?
One for calling oversea and one for UK.

What mobile she is using? Could get a cheap feature mobile or dual sim mobile if necessary.

How come ? going via 3 direct using special payg access codes shown on their site 3p a minute to USA and India no connection fee.

Using the link given in post 2 by Old Grey Fox just 2p a minute from text to top up no connection fee same sort of set up as 3.s numbers.

Together with UK Calls 3p a minute and UK Texts 2p .

Which is clearly cheaper then Giffgaff 3p a minute to USA and 2p a minute to India with UK Calls at 10p a minute and UK Texts at 6p.

Having a look at this dual sim phone, it says -

"Sim Free Unlocked - Please note this phone will not work on the Three network as it is not 3G"
