I shut down from safe mode but it Still wont load windows, there is a company nearby who will take a look and if its the hard drive will replace it for 90 quid so i think I will drop the laptop in tomorrow for them to ate a look

£90 you don't need to spend.

jumping the gun taking it to a shop and assuming hd failure. if it starts in safe mode, it's unlikely to be a hd failure

if you dont need any data on it, factory restore using acer erecovery (speedup sticky above), one keypress at boot and walk away.

if you do need data from it, see bottom of speedup sticky on how to recover data, then factory restore it.

if the hd is really failing, something that is not at all sure from your symptoms, a new one costs £45 and five minutes effort.

Thank you all for your help I took it in and they run a diagnostic on it and found the AVG anti virus had corrupted something preventing the windows staring up so they removed it gave it a clean up and now it's working just fine

You have not said if they have put a new ant-virus product on.

If not you need to do so ASAP.

mbam isn't an antivirus program, it works alongside your av. Go her and download & install avast:-

Ignore any big green buttons during the install and registration processes tempting you to upgrade to the Pro version of Avast. Stick with the grey buttons for the free version. :)
