    99491.....
  • Thanks for that - I've never had to read this sort of meter before, I'm used to digital.

    The first reading was taken on the 19th November, and this one today.

    It seems an awful lot - I'm thinking something maybe wrong

    491 + 357 -> 850 kWh over 42 days

    2o kWh per day. I take it you use gas for heating and hot water. That's about double the national average for households with gas c.h.. Not crazy and easily doable. Why do you think it is too high?
  • Yes - gas for heating and hot water.

    But my previous bill wad July to November, 97612 to 98642

    My usage seems to have doubled, but nothing changed???

    If you think 20 kWh per day is too high then either the start read or end read of the Jul-Nov may have been estimated.

    Read your meter every day for a week or two and see how much you are using and how that corresponds to a longer term average.

    This is November - a few days after official reading.

    I'm sorry and am clueless about this sort of thing but would an extra shower a day cause this? What sort of thing would I be looking at?

    More hot drinks? Electric blanket? Central Heating Pump? More artificial lighting? More tumble drying?
    Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

    No more hot drinks, no blanket, heating pump or lights. One extra tumble dry a week and say 10showers?

    Really double my usage?

    20 kWh a day seems amazingly low, that's less than a quid a day (depending on your tariff). Don't forget it's winter, the previous period of around four to five months was mostly late summer/autumn.

    Is it?

    If you pay 5p per unit, you'd best let us all know who your supplier is.
