Confused about a parking ticket

Hello,
I recently got a ticket on my car from a 2 hour free private car park (a retail park). My crime was "driver left the site". I was shopping in the shops on the retail park and have a receipt from the shop. I returned to my car well within the 2 hour limit.
I'm not sure what to do now. Should I appeal or just ignore it and see what happens? It is a BPA car park so I believe they can get my details from DVLA but can I appeal if they get touch with me at a later date? At the time I spoke to a the car park warden who said they were not allowed to take photos of you or have CCTV so I'm not sure where they stand with accusing me of leaving the site.
Has anyone ever encountered a problem like this or can anyone give me any advice?

Many thanks

    Hi,

It was in England and the name on the ticket is UKPC.

I've read the link but it doesn't say anything about the "crime" I've been accused of. It's all about parking too long or not in the spaces. None of the web pages I've looked at say anything about leaving the car park by foot.

    Thanks for your help

so if you read that NEWBIES thread linked earlier, what have you decided from reading it ? (based around your new PCN)

I assume this was a windscreen pcn and so not an NTK ?

ps:- your PCN is for not following their "rules" of parking, whatever they may be , they all have different rules but they believe you breached the ones for this site, usually listed on the signage, but they may have done it for leaving the site, some do

either way, its still a pcn that you need to challenge , as per this thread which explains it https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4835943

so usually what happened on the day tends to be largely irrelevant, its a pcn and you need to deal with it

And that's because the circumstances don't matter when winning at POPLA! have another look, the appeal and POPLA advice is standard to all cases where UKPC have alleged on their signs that a PCN is issued for 'breach' or 'failure to comply' with ANY terms.

Have a read of these threads:

And you will soon see that focussing on 'what happened' is missing the point.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Thank you for all your advice on this matter. The links you have all shown me have been very helpful.

Let's see how I get on!

Use something like this as your initial appeal

    Dear UKPC,

As the registered keeper of (reg) I'm in receipt of your parking invoice xxxxxx dated xxxxxx. I wish to invoke your appeals process as is my right under the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012, all liability to you company is denied on the following:

    1) The amount being claimed is not a genuine pre-estimate of loss to your company or the landowner
    2) Your signage does not comply with the BPA Code of Practice
    3) You are not the landowner and do not have the capacity to offer contracts or to bring a claim for trespass

These points and others will be raised with Popla should you not accept this appeal, and you will be expected to provide a full breakdown of your alleged loss, and your full unredacted contract with the landowner.

If you do reject the challenge and insist upon taking the matter further I must inform you that I may claim my expenses from you. The expenses I may claim are not exhaustive but may include the cost of stamps, envelopes, travel expenses, legal fees, etc. By continuing to pursue me you agree to pay these costs when I prevail.

Please issue your cancellation within 35 days of this letter or a popla verification code. I have nothing further to add.

    Faithfully
