  • Vaillant...but a boiler is only as good as the standard of the installation. Seek advice from a recommended RGI.

I had an Ideal Logic Plus boiler installed 4 months ago which was recommended by my gas man. Comes with a 7 year warranty too. So far so good I am really happy with it!

The fact that there is a 7 year warranty is a big plus, and it shows that Ideal have complete faith in their products.Ideal have certainly improved a hell of a lot,yes there was a time a few years ago that their boilers were poor, and I mean poor, and I was on a course last Monday near Leeds on the Logic combi boiler and the bloke who conducted the course acknowledged the past problems and was not afraid to do so,that speaks volumes, but things got changed, new managers came in and turned it around, now they have pulled their socks up and brought out better boilers with better components,And if anything goes wrong,so long as the boiler is registered with Ideal, they will fix it FOC.You do need to have a service done yearly though so the Gas Safe registered engineer can sign the service record at the back of the users manual in order to keep the warranty.Average price for this is about £60-£70 which is quite reasonable,ie £1.20-£1.40 per week.

My old boiler started leaking quite badly, and I ended up getting 3 people round to quote - all from smallish local firms. One said he would fit any type of boiler, one only did Worcester Bosch, and one only did Baxi. They all quoted about the same - £2,500-ish for boiler and installation, and I went with the WB man as I trusted him most to do a good job - based on the fact that he came recommended but also asked the most detailed questions about how I lived, so that he could specify the right size. He did a good installation and good aftercare - I've had one minor problem since when the boiler pump started some of the original pipework vibrating quite loudly and he was round really quickly, and I have a 5 year warranty. So, I'd try get several companies round, all of whom provide different types of boilers, and then see what they (and their quotes) say.

NOOOO!!! Don't say scary things like that! :p

:rotfl: Unfortunately there a regulations when changing a boiler that mean there are thing that HAVE to be done to comply ;)

The most economic way to run a boiler is INTO THE GROUND, until you have no other option due to lack of spare parts to repair ;)

It's not corgi it's gas safe & has been for nearly 5 yrs (he must be an RGI not a plumber)

£140 no you don't have a reputable "plumber" you have a cowboy
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

I got an Ariston a couple of years ago and it came with a 5yr guarantee.
I'm very happy with it up to now.
