You must do your sleeping during the week
I've looked on 5 different websites this morning and not found a damn thing that's new (and suitable) or I haven't already applied for.
8 new jobs on UJM today - 5 avon reps, 2 catalogue distributors, and 1 sales reps (all self employed btw) - oh yippee!0 -

What's wrong with Avon reps etc? Better than JSA surely? Plus it's flexible enough that you can still look for other opportunities anyway.0 -
Avon reps is not a job, it's a hobby, and as it's cosmetics are available online, and very few people use the reps now, not a very lucrative thing to do now, I suspect.
Come on - these are not jobs that would enable anyone to come off benefits, and if the government are including this in "all the jobs we have created" then that is really scraping the spin doctor barrel...:wall:
LinYou can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0 -

It all depends on where you live of course. I found several hotel jobs in the Newcastle/Gateshead area, a couple or retail jobs at the Metrocentre, and a waitressing job in North Tyneside. The voluntary position is for a researcher to help with a project on the arms trade in WWI.0 -

Is there any reason why you aren't doing that ?
Everyone needs time off and there more to life than job seeking 7 days a week.0 -
To be honest, I don't even think it's feasible to tell people they have to look for work even 35 hours a week!
With online applications nowadays, it takes a matter of minutes to fill out a form, send off a CV etc., so how are these claimants supposed to show all these hours filled?
If someone applies for, say, 20 jobs a week, if available, then that really should be enough for the government.
This 'you must spend the equivalent of a working week searching' is really a back of an envelope 'policy' set by an out of touch gang of politicians at their silliest.

Not really. I've applied for about 1500 jobs in the last three years, that's about 10 a week, and that typically involves reading through about 10 jobsite listings every day, so reading through about 100-200 individual job vacancies EVERY DAY, that's 600-1400 actions every week. If you're not doing at least 200 actions a week, you're not trying hard enough.
Yeah, but what's the point in doing that if it doesn;t work? Some of these job applications you make, are probably not really jobs. They are just agencies trying to increase their list of potential candidates that are on their books. And the CV may never actually be looked at by anyone at the agency. Furthermore, you are probably just repeating doing this on several occasions - as these type of "jobs" appear on UJS day after day.
Whereas, going out to see some employers about potential jobs or getting some work experience is quite likely to bring up far more positive results (even if your job search activty is less than 35 hours a week sometimes).0 -

You're confusing working with job seeking.
Correct, 63 x 2 = 126, that doesn't make the rate of actions any higher.
Negligible time is taken from job seeking because the job seeking itself creates the actions.
Depends if you're spamming employers and agencies with worthless applications, or actually take time in making appropriate applications that employers are going to be interested in.
Yeah, I know agencies spam jobseekers all the time too!0
