I've found the reverse. I now do almost all my shopping in Aldi with a small (and still shrinking) top up in Sainsbury.0 -
I am an Aldi fan and it is cheaper. I have been doing top up shops the past few weeks. Like you my freezers are full. I worked a meal plan around the super six and bought milk and bread.
No charges in our car park. Super six are always a good buy and bagged salad half the price of other supermarkets. Going earlier in the day means you get the pick of the crop iyswim.
Look out for the vouchers in the newspapers to save a bit more I used one today and stocked up on loo rolls, bin liners and food bags to get to the £40.0 -
I have certain stuff I like from both Aldi's and Lidls but I also shop in Sainsbobs.Have stopped shopping in Mr T as its just got too expensive and stuff seemed to be going up in leaps and bounds there.I like Sainsbobs for meat if I'm in the area but I have a nice fresh butcher's where I live who does some good offers at times. This weeks is Lamb mince at £2.45 lb ,but its a BOGOF bargain so 2lb will cost £2.49.
I always look to see online what's on offer at both Aldi's and Lidls .Aldi's is only a couple of miles away but Lidls is about 7 miles, so only go if they have decent offers on.
I also like Morrisons in Sittingbourne where I buy my diesel once a month. There Sunday afternoon Y/S are very good and the veg gets quite large reductions.
I do like Lidls 'ryvita' type of crispbread and also their soft creme cheese. The quality is excellent on most of their stuff.Aldi's 'super six veg anf fruit is pretty good and the turn over in my nearest one means that if you go in the afternoon its almost all gone so nothing gets left lying around on the shelves. The only thing I don't like about Aldi's is there are never enough tills open so there are always queues, but I try to go when its quiet during the week,Never gone at the weekend so I couldn't really comment, but then I dislike shoping at weekends anyway and being retired I can choose when to shop. But both stores I think do save you money and my loyalty ,like my purse will only streetch so far:):)

First things first, a weekly shop for 5 people takes me less than half an hour in Aldi as you're not confounded by the choice and the so called special offers such as BOGOFs which are a con by and large.
I'm probably saving around £30 a week by shopping mainly in Aldi and getting better quality.
I use a couple of big plastic boxes in the car to put the shopping in which also saves time on the packing.
Aldi was not voted best supermarket by WHICH? for no reason.0 -

Because if you can not park up and complete the trolley dash, pack the shopping, put it in the car and beat the queue out of the car park in the allocated time which is as low as an hour in some stores you will be hit with a £100 parking charge by the car parking engagement company that use ANPR cameras.
It takes some doing !
Make sure you take a timer and make sure you are out of the car park in the time allocated allowing a good ten minutes at each end.
Or you can brush this advice aside like hundreds who post on here every week do.
Then we will see you on the parking board.
Personally, I do not think it is worth the risk and shopping to a timer is most unpleasant, especially if the queues are long and you have to leave your shopping to avoid getting a parking charge notice.
They do not do excuses, one second over and you will get a parking charge notice through the post from a very nasty company who are taking thousands to court.
Ignore this advice at your peril, or just shop elsewhere.
I agree, not all Aldi have this system in pace, but I avoid the supermarkets that do (in my case Lidl is the problem).
I spend my life rushing, I don't want to be watching the clock when I shop as well (and if you like me use the my supermarket app to compare prices, 1hr is not that long).
Back to the original topic: I've had bad experiences with Aldi's fruits and veggies, pre-washed spinach full of dirt, aubergines that after two days were rotting. I don't think I'll buy fresh produce from them much in future.
Lidl is much better, but because of the parking arrangements I don't shop there (I use the car park for a quick shop at a local store instead, silly people...)
However the best places to buy fresh veggies for me are ethnic supermarkets, the quality is very good and they are cheaper, worth exploring your local area0 -
Aldi and Lidl are on a par where I am but I usually buy bananas and Braeburn apples at Lidl because they're not pre packed so one can choose. That said, I did buy Aldi's Super Six Braeburns yesterday in a six pack and they're delicious. I prefer Aldi's Bratwurst and Greek Yoghurts plus some other groceries and I buy Lidl's Frikadellen and manly their fruit & veg. I walk to town so don't have any parking problems and there's on road parking opposite Aldi. SWMBO obtains kale, sprouts and some other veggies at the local greengrocer's because she can pick and choose. The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

No such thing as ethnic supermarkets in my area, nor farmers markets. Never had a problem with the quality of fruit and veg from aldi.0

Fruit and veg is cheaper from an outside market where I live than Aldis. Also I dont like Aldis cereal I think its inedible.
Everything elce I've had from there has been very nice and reasonable but not dirt cheap. Especially good are homecleaning products and shampoos.0 -
That's a shame, I've found the fruit n fibre and frosties equivalent really good. The "weetabix" is almost as nice as the real thing too IMO.0
