My freezer is full to bursting point and my pantry is well stocked. I plan to eat from these as much as possible in February. I'd intended to do my top-up shopping for fruit, veg, bread, milk etc in tesco or asda but wonder if I would be better off shopping in Aldi. For those of you who go to Aldi, what's your opinions - is there much price difference going there?

Thanks!

    Yes about £100 .
Because if you can not park up and complete the trolley dash, pack the shopping, put it in the car and beat the queue out of the car park in the allocated time which is as low as an hour in some stores you will be hit with a £100 parking charge by the car parking engagement company that use ANPR cameras.
    It takes some doing !
Make sure you take a timer and make sure you are out of the car park in the time allocated allowing a good ten minutes at each end.

Or you can brush this advice aside like hundreds who post on here every week do.
Then we will see you on the parking board.

Personally, I do not think it is worth the risk and shopping to a timer is most unpleasant, especially if the queues are long and you have to leave your shopping to avoid getting a parking charge notice.

They do not do excuses, one second over and you will get a parking charge notice through the post from a very nasty company who are taking thousands to court.

Ignore this advice at your peril, or just shop elsewhere.
    Be happy...;)

I am a big Aldi fan, and would certainly think you could make savings on fruit and veg and milk and Bread by using them. As always, Tescos, Asda, etc. may on any day have specific items priced similarly to Aldi.
Have a look at the "Good and bad buys from Aldi, Lidl" thread on this section of the forums.

You've obviously had a bad experience.

I'd suggest that the OP checks out the parking regulations in the Aldi local to them. If it's like mine there will be no problems at all.

If you really think the scammers managing the car parks can be trusted, you are in for a real treat.
Just wait until you have to nip back for something.
See you on the parking board with the hundreds of others that get hit every week.
Anyone using this supermarket needs to be made aware of the consequences of making the smallest error in over staying the allotted time.
Hundreds if not thousands are getting hit every week.

Like it or lump it LOL all you want the truth is the truth.

yep, I can do that in less than an hour on my own without assistance.
No point hanging around in any supermarket. Save money, save time.

You get two hours in our Aldi. I don't see why you posted here your post has nothing to do with what the OP asked.

OP if you go on Aldi's website you can see the brochure for next weeks offers. They have the super 6 in fruit and veg which is 6 items priced at 49p each. You can save money in Aldi's (and lidl's). I go there as much as l can but if l had one closer than the 12 miles away it presently is l would be there all the time.

    Happy moneysaving all.

My Aldi car park is FREE! (but I'm not in UK) so come on over!

It is my fave supermarket. Ever. I use the local butcher for my meat, and honestly everything else, apart from treats from M and S and the like is bought there.

There is no MUSIC piped through, there are no Bogofs, which are sometimes false!, and the items are in the same place All the time, which means, with a list, I can get in and out in twenty or so minutes.

Unless I'm distracted by the non food things, which to be fair, are interesting....And so much cheaper than elsewhere. But a bargain is never a bargain UNLESS YOU NEED IT!

    So I am disciplined.. Ahem...sometimes!

But op, go there and try it out. Compare. We can advise, but you have to try it and do the comparisons yourself for your own circumstances really.

    I would recommend though.
  • For top ups yes definitely. Milk is 79p for 2L. Hovis loaves are 79p for standard size (other brands and Aldi own available too). yesterday I got 1kg bananas at 68p, bag of apples at 89p, bag of clementines 89p, bag of carrots at 79p and peppers (3 pack 89p).

I shop in Lidl every week and the price difference between there and Asda (the cheapest mainstream supermarket in my area) is enormous. I can walk out of Lidl with two big carrier bags full of shopping for around £10. The same stuff in Asda you could add on another £10, and add on even more in Tesco, Sainsburys etc

And the parking at my Lidl is free
