Sorry for the loss of Tally0

Ian,
So sorry for your loss,
most of us on here know exactly what you are going through ,please
allow yourself to grieve, there is no rush to get rid of everything now,
unless that is what you want to do,
maybe in time you may want to adopt another cat, maybe you may
want to foster but do it when it feels right for you,
thinking of you,

I don't know where my previous postings/thread went that I started last Sunday when I wasn't sure whether or not I needed to take my cat to the emergency vet.
By Monday she had been transferred 60 miles to the Pet Hospital in Leeds under the cardiologist.
Sadly my poor cat (Tally) didn't get any better despite the best efforts of all the vets/vet nurses. Yesterday afternoon, after speaking with her consultant vet I had to make possibly the most difficult decision (yet somehow I know the right decision) not to put her through any more and she was put to sleep.
I wasn't present as it would have been too distressing, but I know all that could have been done, was done and that she didn't suffer.
Obviously I am devastated about it. The house now seems so empty without her. Packing away her toys and feed/water bowls last night was very upsetting.
I have this morning sent a donation to the local Blue Cross Pet Rescue Centre (where Tally came from as a stray 8 years ago) but I have a huge stock of both dry and wet cat food, Iams, Purina One and 'Felix as good as it looks' pouches etc that I am not sure what to do with. I also have about 10 bags of cat litter.
I don't really want to throw it all away and was wondering if any of the pet charities etc would be interested? Or would donating it to a food bank (for those who cannot afford to feed their cats) be appropriate?
I haven't been in this situation before, so any help would be appreciated.
Kind regards
Ian
my first rescue was Whitney .. I was 20 years old and had never owned a cat. I rang them up a week later really worried because one of his whiskers had fallen out and he had left claw sheathes around the house! he lived to about 14
2nd rescue was Mac .. the night he came home my 3 year old son was rushed into hospital with IPT .. he wee,d on our bed and lived with us for the next 12 years..
Then little Jen .. a rescue from a multi cat home .. tiniest cat you could ever imagine but the most loyal cat I have ever owned ..
she was at least 10 years old when we adopted her .. skanky .. skinny but sat on my 13 year old sons shoulders when we visited the CPL and there was no going back .. Jen went blind , that wasn't a problem but then she had a stroke .. this was the time to bite the bullet and she was PTS
Next was Sooty, we had the priviledge of owning her for 18 months .. loved cheese .. beautiful cat but had to be PTS because of FIP ..
Broke my heart as she was only 7 years old
Then Ginny owners split up , she is a Van cat and a lot of people do not understand that they give love bites ..so we adopted her in 2004.
Mac died in 2006 aged at least 14 xx so then we adopted big Charlie .. the most beautiful long haired white cat that was 7 years old and not neutered when he was picked up by the CPL.. He had been in loads of fights before being rescued and had never been groomed
He and Ginny are still with us..OAP,s but still going strong
The thing I am trying to say is that, Ian, you are the sort of person that all these rescue cats are looking for and you can do it again and again , no matter how heartbreaking it is when you lose them but every single one of them you never forget
