UKPC fine - Dundee, Scotland

Just to keep a record of this: I returned to the car in December in Gallagher Retail Park - ticketed. It's a standard UKPC job. I've ignored the ticket, and had now the second letter IN RED!!! Oooooh!
For a giggle, I went on their site to view the myriad of photos of my car - not taken by David Bailey - the amazing thing is, that in the ones where you can actually tell it IS a vehicle, you only see the windscreen WITH their "Parking Charge" on it. There are no photos of the side window, which is - of course - where the driver put the ticket.
Now we're into "proceedings against you in a Sheriff Court (at least they've finally learned the Scottish terminology).
I am, of course, ignoring it all, although I'd love to write to them and say the ticket was clearly displayed in the side window, which they neglected to photograph, AND that I was not the driver. However, I'll just stick to ignoring it. Some Twitter action of non-specific content may occur towards one of the stores using the park.
That aside - is there any point at which a reply is necessary, for example: if the forthcoming solicitor's letter is actually from a bona fide local solicitor, rather than one of their made-up same address jobs?

The only time to reply is if you get properly issued papers from a Scottish court. Some PPCs have actually tried issuing them via Northampton!
Otherwise, just keep-on ignoring the scammers.0 -
Here we have the letter from Debt Recovery Plus Ltd. The matter has been referred to them. I have to pay £160. They will recommend to the creditor's solicitor that court action should be taken. Parking ticket was on the driver's window - the futtockbuck on duty just photographed the windscreen. Not that I'm contesting or replying - but I thought I'd add that fact FOR THE UKPC STAFF MONITORING THE THREADS. :-)0

I like your style0 -
Here we go...
"Notice of intended court action - unpaid parking charge..."
"To prevent your case being passed to the creditor's solicitor to commence court proceedings, you must pay...."
"If you do not pay.... we will pass your file to the creditor's solicitor with a recommendation to commence court action against you. A court judgment against you could seriously affect your ability to obtain credit in the future."
It goes on to ask me to note that they'll charge me extras of £25 court fees, solicitor's costs of £50 and interest of 8% p.a.
Noted.
Here's the belter:
They post a URL so you can see how many folk they've taken down in the County Court. - http://debtrecoveryplus.co.uk/countycourtjudgements/ There's a scrolling list of names and everything.
I'm content to ignore them, but I'd really love to reply!
Anne Stone, you're one hell of a litigator. Except you're not currently litigating, you're like the stocky blokes on the telly: bailiffing.0 -
I do like how they will pass the letter to the solicitor "with a recommendation to commence court action" - Just as well, I imagine the number of times the solicitor gets details sent through and doesn't know whether to do something legal, or maybe send a get well soon card or a TV guide subscription. Always best to recommend a course of action. I frequently get on the bus and recommend the driver continue on his route.0

We've seen that - none of them are private parking tickets, of course, because they can't do anything with them. DRP might just be showing cases such as mail order where there was a CCA agreement signed, now in default, which can go to court for a fairly simple judgment AFAIK.
No PPC victim has ever signed any credit agreement to a PPC!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

And why would anyone in Scotland be worried about a list of County Court judgements in England?0
-
I know - it's fairly pathetic. TBH - I doubt whether the names on the list are even real.
But it's good fun, and I thought it might help others if I chart the course of the adventure letter by letter.0 -

I reckon you have another 4 to go.
Next could be the 'Last chance to pay before legal proceedings.'
Then comes the 1st 'Reduced offer'.
Then ......0 -
You could always write back to them ...
"Thank you for your latest communication. Could you send me several more please? I'm running out of loo paper and can't afford to buy more".0
