If they told you they will be in touch within 7-10 days this does not mean you have been refused credit, just that they wish to do further checks. It maybe that your credit agreement will arrive in a few days.

Argos are strict? You sure they are run by Vanquis and dish out 30% APR's with tiny credit limits.

argos card is provided by argos card services
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Maybe the thread title "Argos credit card help" made be presume the thread was about the Argos credit card not Argos's in store store card.

Cycrow I have a 10pound buffer on my account but it's not something I've asked for and you can't get it taken off.

I applied on Tuesday 28th January and no reply yet, tbh, I'm not expecting a reply until the end of next week.

The argos agent in my local branch didn't really give much information, she just said, it hasn't went through, we'll be in touch with you in 7 to 10 days... I should have really questioned her a bit more but stupid me just nodded and walked out haha.

Ive spoken to a friend who I work with and he lives with his parents, very similar situation to me and he did his online and had no problems... Kinda wishing I did it online now grrr

It sounds like they have simply referred it, possibly because they cant verify your address.
i would wait a week and see what response you get.

its possible that they did reject and that they will send out the information about the reason for the rejection in the 7 days, and the shop assistant wasn't all that clued up on the Argos Card.

either way, you should know in a week.

But ideally, you should really sort out the electoral roll for the future, this can take awhile to actually get sorted so best do sooner rather than later

    Little update...

Received my letter fro Argos this morning,

"Thankyou for applying for the Argos Card. After careful consideration, im sorry, but we are unable to open an account for you."

They then go on to say they came to there conclusion using the credit scoring system and data held on credit reference agency files.

"Although im not allowed to tell you the exact information we used to reach our decision, you may find it helpful to contact the credit reference agency we used online *LINK REMOVED*"

"Of Course, if you have anymore information you feel may be of help to us or you might have left out please dont hesitate to write to us"

So... ive applied to experian for a credit report, along with waiting to be registered on the electoral roll, if the report shows that the main reason im being refused is the electoral roll, brilliant i can fix that shortly...
