Stu, I always love reading about your family adventures.

Lombok and one of the Gili Islands are definitely on our radar for a few days, and possibly Komodo.

We don't want to do too much travelling, so Java will have to wait.

This travel company, with offices in all the main Bali places, is the one we intend to put our trust in...

We are staying in Sanur for the first week, and the Perama Office is v.close to our accommodation. I'll be booking our shuttle transfer to Ubud with them. If that works out alright then I'll use their office in Ubud to book the bus and ferry to Lombok or the Gilis.

Hopefully, pre-paying will cut out a lot of the hassle and over-charging. Fingers-crossed!
  • My only advice would be to get out of Kuta, Bali pretty quick. I liked Ubud and thought Kuta, Lombok was lovely and Gili Meno was just perfect for relaxing, winding down and getting away from it all.

We've just got back from Bali, absolute paradise! We combined it with a trip to KL where you can fly with AirAsia at a really good price.
We stayed in a villa booked with home-away, €600 for 6 days. It was on the beach and included a maid, who would also cook your meals, organise trips etc. it was so relaxing.

I've just taken Mr Wang's excellent suggestion to move from Bali to Java for a few nights.

So have just booked with Air Asia return flights/hotel package (B&B) for 7 nights in Yogyakarta @ £227 total for the pair of us, including 15KG each, each way. Bargain!:)
