Wedding company deposit - Seeking advice.

Hi All,

The wife to be and myself are planning our wedding for September, we booked a company to supply chair covers way back in last June / July and paid a deposit. To date the company have been absolutely awful at getting back to our queries or requests for quotes for other services they offer, we are starting to wonder if they are actually organised enough to turn up on the day. My wife to be has tried speaking with them about cancelling but the manager was rude enough to bring on the tears.

My question is where do we stand with getting our deposit back legally if atall?
We are going in to see them over the weekend and see if it can be sorted out but I'm doing my research first.

Thank you for your help.
Pete.

You would probably better off asking on the Consumer Rights board...

I dont know about this issue specifically but wedding insurance is a good idea in case any suppliers don't fulfill their contracts.

Chair cover companies are going bump all over the place, they offer unrealistic deals, bag payments and ignore people, I wish you luck and hopefully you get it sorted

Thank you all for your replies. I have posted in the other section.

I'm not sure insurance would help in this case, unless they actually didn't turn up on the day. But I'd rather not wait to find that out.

The company we chose were supposed to be quite good, but have since gone down hill massively.

    Thank you.

Of course but it's worth having still.

Even if you can't get the deposit back sometimes it's better to cut your losses and go elsewhere.
