Another reason why UJM should not be used in your Job Search.

UJ has the thin veneer of being a portal to jobs, but in reality it's a mechanism to deliver sanctions. Why force people to register if there is no sinister motive?0

Why not just register and look for jobs on it then you won't get any sanctions.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

 Its simple really.
90% of the vacancies are agencies when i put my postcode in and search for jobs within 20 miles.
The other 10% are part time, zero hours contract and maybe the odd full time job.
That is why i use other sites.0

Which other sites are you using Krok?
I'm asking because most of them seem to be primarily agency vacancies being advertised. Any other sites you can recommend would be appreciated. Thanks.Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy - Anne Frank :A0

I use Indeed which gathers vacancies from other sites and i find the best as the filters are good and you can have dailly vacancies emailled to you.cattermole wrote: »Which other sites are you using Krok?

Jobs today is another good site and some employers only advertise on this site.
Total jobs and of course potential employers own sites which i check several times per day.
Also local paper websites which have a good selection of local vacancies.0

Indeed is a good alternative to UJM as it trawls other sites (such as UJM & Jobs Today) and lists them all on one site.
When I went through the first pre-sign-on stuff at JC+ (my JC+ do this as a group rather than as individuals), even the JC+ man stated that even though you need to register on UJM, 'Indeed' should be the first site you look on as it enables you to much better filter out unsuitable vacancies.Never Knowingly Understood.

Yes, but by allowing the DWP access to the Universal Jobsearch website. you run the risk of the DWP sanctioning you for not applying for a "job" when there are good reasons for you not having applied for it (eg: scamming "employers", agency job that you have already applied for through another method).
Why take the risk of being sanctioned for this?0
