More scams more lies.
This is why i would never apply to any so called agency jobs on UJM.

I think it applies to all the major job sites not just the UJM one.
The ASA (Advertising Standards Agency) is a pretty impotent organisation and there are 1000's of misleading job adverts and most of them stem back to Appco/Cobra companies.
I've even taken it up with my MP and he seems powerless to do anything about it.
I have to say the same companies advertising on UJM do state the vacancies are self-employed which they were not doing on other sites like total.jobs.Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy - Anne Frank :A0 -
The thing is and it is important ,and that is, this is a goverment site and you are mandated to register with UJM or lose your benefits.
So every so called employer who wants to advertise on this site should be checked out by the sites owners who is the goverment and monster.0 -

Absolutely and whilst I don't really think putting it in the hands of a private company was a particularly good idea. I'm not sure articles like the one published help anything, because out of the hundreds of thousands of jobs advertised inevitably one or two are going to slip through the net. Nothing is 100% foolproof and if someone is out to commit fraud, with the best will in the world can Monster or the DWP be blamed for that?
My point was that their checks are a lot more vigilant than the other websites.Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy - Anne Frank :A0 -

Do they have to pay for advertisements?0 -
Round here, increasingly since Universal Jobmatch was introduced some 15 or so months ago, many local employers who used to advertise on the old Jobcentre jobs website have all but given up advertising jobs on UJ.
The main reasons are:
1. in the past jobs could be placed on the old website by the employer contacting the local job centre, who would upload the vacancy on behalf of the employer. Now placing of vacancies is done direct by the employer in a very user unfriendly way
2. Advertised local vacancies are being "drowned out" by spam vacancies from a multitude of companies offering things like self-employed jobs for "catalogue distributors" or from jobs advertised by the likes of cv-library who just post the same jobs day after day.
I've yet to work out what is so "game changing", as IDS described it, about the UJ website.0 -
No, advertising vacancies on UJ is free.StormyWeather wrote: »Do they have to pay for advertisements?0 -
i dont use UJM but agree that its sh1te,
they should place the vacancies themselves and not allow it to be a free for all for scammers.
its such a good idea in principle.... but they always muck it up0 -
No, advertising vacancies on UJ is free.
It has always been free to advertise with the Job Centre. I can't see the difference between the major sites to be honest. At least it means the DWP can see what JSA recipients are doing or not as the case maybe.
I don't think it should be run by a commercial company though who is in it for profit.Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy - Anne Frank :A0 -

Vey sad that nobody in DWP or Jobcentres has sense to do something or challenge this.
As UJM is politically driven they refuse to put in additional filters to allow users to filter this stuff more effectively.0 -
This above is probably true but it has been a while in our area since you could phone the local job centre to place a vacancy. It was done centrally way back as far as I know but it sounds to have got a lot worse. Been a while since I advertised with them admittedly.
The filters are rubbish I agree.Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy - Anne Frank :A0
