Tesco delivery man damaged my property

on 11th November during a delivery the driver managed to smash the cat flap and a double glazed panel on the back door.
tesco have been next to useless. I've jumped through every hoop I've been asked, from getting quotations and recipts, to driving to their store THREE TIMES to fill in forms that can only be done on their computer. dot com manager assures me that it's all gone to insurance & I should hear from them very soon
Fast forward to after Christmas, the door is still broken and has been letting in water, the room is damn and mould is appearing, so I paid to have it all fixed, leaving me significantly out of pocket. take reciepts to store and fill in yet more forms dot com manager assures me that it's all gone to insurance & I should hear from them very very soon. She also comes to my house to take photographs to determine that the repairs have been done and assures me that she's done all she can & it's in the hands of the insurrers now.

Still waiting to hear anything from Tescos with regard to the money I am owed. I phoned this morning but dotcom manager not in today.

My thinking is that my original contract (food shopping) was with tescos, therefore I deal with them and not have to wait for the insurance company. Tesco should be dealing with the insurance company and not me. Am I correct?
and finally waiting 2 1/2 months to be reimbursed for damage to my property isn't a reasonable length of time is it? What else can I do, the money I'm owed for replace and repair work isn't insignificant.

You're having a laugh aren't you, why on earth should the OP claim off his own insurance, paying excess and increasing future premiums for damage caused by a third-party!

My neighbours had their car hit by an ASDA van during a delivery, they did eventually get the repair paid for but it took a fair bit of correspondence and calls with ASDA's insurers before it happened. Hopefully if you persevere you will be successful, but you might have to be proactive (which it sounds like you are being) to avoid waiting even longer.
