OS Daily Thread Wednesday 29th January This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning All

Not a bad night's sleep but still up early. I can get quite a lot done first thing. Going for a haircut after work and then probably go back to Scottish Country Dancing - not been for a couple of years. Probably wont be able to move tomorrow!

DD and I went to the cinema last night to see Orange-Osage County. It was ok, a good cast but not very uplifting!

Made Spag bol last night which was surprisingly tasty (can be a bit hit and miss if I make it), I had rice with mine though. Will have something lighter tonight, maybe baked pot as we are both having the leftovers today for lunch.

Washing on the airers as rain forecast again, we did have a couple of dry hours yesterday and the sun even put in an appearance which was lovely.

Now getting light, drying up under foot, but feels chilly but no frost.

DH up and gone to work early.

Dinner last night was LO chicken, and mushrooms with pasta in a creamy sauce - served a part baked roll with it as they need using up - all eaten and enjoyed. Tonight I'm thinking we may have omlettes, jacket potatoes and side salad, as have quite alot of eggs that could do with being used up. I'll do a slow cooker casserole tomorrow night, must remember to get the beef out to defrost tonight.

Work was strange yesterday, was horrendously busy in the morning and into the afternoon then it went completely dead - so did give everyone enough time to catch up though. I don't expect today will be too bad but we can never tell! Only working until lunchtime, I have to take the xbox power cable into the shop the boys forgot to put it in the box and they called and asked for it. I'm also taking the pc tower in to have the data transfer done on to the new pc tower - hoping it all goes reasonably smoothly as can't do with sitting on a phone to their helpdesk for hours trying to make myself understood when all I want is to be able to access a service I pay alot of money for! Will do a wash and dry it over the airer - I've been doing this a week and everything dries overnight - and as the heating is on anyway I'm not paying extra for the TD to be on.

Good Morning!

Snoozer - sad news, my thoughts are with you x

I was amazed I slept the whole night without getting up for the loo. It's a miracle!

I've been looking at the Wedding Packages for Edinburgh venues for DD and am quite gobsmacked at the prices! I'm hoping we will find somewhere olde worlde and reasonably priced. At least we have a while to look.

Probably going to pop in and see my dad this morning. I'm seeing him on Friday evening but as its at a quiz we won't get much time to chat.

Not much else on today, possibly do something with chicken for dinner.

Not raining here atm but the sky is looking a bit grey. Supposed to be on a day off today but have just had a phone call asking me to go in, one of the other people have phoned in sick and I am covering. The extra money will always come in handy !


So no more painting for me today. Dinner will be pork chops in the sc, crisped in the oven for the last 1/2 hr with a sticky sauce rice and peas.


Will have to do an online shop tonight (was going to that today too !)

I don't think the tooth will last that long The dentist at the access centre (who does the sedation) told me at my last appointment to ring and ask for her if it falls out and I can't get in with my regular dentist on the same day. I'll be able to get an emergency appointment and she'll do a temporary fix til I can see my own dentist. All bases are covered Not sure what the temp fix will be – I'm imagining something like a squirt of fixodent and shoving the tooth back in :rotfl: I'm back on the cheese spread sandwiches, mashed veg, yogurt and soggy cereal diet for a few days, too scared to eat anything else [/FONT]

[FONT=Verdana, sans-serif]I gave in and bought some super-duper mould killer for the bathroom. I don't like using it, it's really strong and the fumes make me cough for the rest of the day. But plain old bleach wasn't working so needs must.[/FONT]

[FONT=Verdana, sans-serif]I got the glue out yesterday and fixed a few things – the light in the chicken shed, a fin from a dolphin ornament that miss tru bought me when she was little and a seagull's beak The seagull sits on top of my beach hut money box, the beak is tiny and difficult to hold, even with tweezers. I managed it eventually, my first attempt went on upside down and he looked a bit odd, lol.[/FONT]

Morning all,

sorry Tru, I think you caught my bad mood from yesterday.

Today I shall push a red pen along some papers and earn a bit more money. That's not making me fed up.

I shall eat food that conforms to the SW rules and tonight I shall see what I think will be a nice weight loss. That's not making me fed up.

I shall finish completing the pile of paperwork - don't want to, but needs must and it is only having to think in the bureaucratic mindset that has slowed me down. That's not making me fed up.

I know what it is, it's the usual - DH.
I thought we could do something nice now DH doesn't need surgery, have a treat, let our hair down a bit. Celebrate, just like we didn't when he got the all-clear after his cancer.
Unfortunately, he is still havering three weeks later, because he is unable to do anything quickly, particularly decision making.
And the special Pullman deal is now booked up.
We had the money and all that but ... :mad:

Off to do the washing up and to try and think myself pleasant again.

Good Morning All

Hope your moods lift Tru & Luxor

I had a rubbish nights sleep and made the mistake of popping back to bad after I had my cup of tea - now feel awful - will jump in the shower in a mo and hopefully that will make me feel better.

Really enjoyed work monday and back in tomorrow but have found out that they want me to work 9-6 every saturday and sunday which I am just not prepared to do so will have to tell the tomorrow hate letting people down but oh well.

Today have some of my own office work to get through, will clean my bathroom and the kitchen floor - the weather is yuck - freezing cold rain and the kitchen floor is covered with doggy footprints.

Not sure what is for dinner - need to raid the freezer.

East Sussex is pouring with rain today, West Sussex isn't!:rotfl:
DD coming today. We are swapping coffee tables as the one she's bought is too big.

Lamb stew from the freezer tonight. I was going to get some milk, but think I'll use long life instead:o

Got stuff finishing on ebay today, sold all but two of my clothes so far, they may go in the last minutes though.

Well, I didn't get up early to do housework. I was still in bed at 6:45, but managed to get dressed, walk dog (quickly!) and sort lunch before heading out the door at 7:15!


So still need to clean kitchen and do a clothes wash tonight. Dinner is bean bugers, potato waffles and spag hoops. Veganuary is coming to an end and I JUST WANT A PIZZA!
