MS is fun but don't forget to register as self employed if your company doesn't remove tax at source! Or face a fine.

Mum's said I can sell anything I find in the loft towards the challenge :j

remember if you do register as self employed by default you will be charged National Insurance contributions (Class 2). If you are already employed you'll be paying class 1 at source (one would hope).

You can apply for a SEE (small earnings exemption) certificate if you believe you'll not be earning up to the lower earnings figure of £4,635 per year (for the 2007/2008 tax year). If this is the case you'll also need to fill in :- http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/forms/cf10.pdf and send that off too. Alternatively you can contribute class 2 NI voluntarily or if you're going to be over the limit you'll have to contribute class 2. The beauty of this is HMRC told me today that as I pay class 1 this extra work and taking an SEE will have no effect on any benefits I may be entitled to in the future: that said it'd be wise to give them a call to check your own situation.

Just need some jobs to roll in now...anyone need an IT system developing? ;)

    Cheers.
