Moved to new are and no signal.

Hey guys anyone got any advice on this situation:

I currently have a 3 contract and am about 8 months from its end. I was perfectly happy with it until I moved to a new area and i now have no signal inside or outside.

Obviously having mobile signal at home is v important to me and so i am looking to rectify this or get out of the contract and join an operator who does service this area before the 8 months expire.

ty in advance.

  • No mobile operators guarantee a signal everywhere and some places are in radio dead spots so the loss of signal can not be used to escape a contract which has previously been OK.
I would contact them and explain the problem to see what they can offer, sometimes they offer a reduced fee to end the contract early, sometimes a booster in your home is the answer but it does not sound like it in your case.
Then you need to check who does cover your location, you can obtain pay as you go sim cards free from other operators and then try them in your phone but it will need to be unlocked from your present network if it is locked. If you use your settings options in the phone itself you can do a network search to see what networks come up - that is a good way to check coverage at home.
    Good luck with your problem.

When it happened to me I spoke to EE and they agreed half rental until the end of my contract as a gesture. I switched thereafter to Vodafone because their sure signal gave me what I needed.
  • Three offer a Home Signal unit (ala Vodafone Sure Signal), you would need to call them and request for it and they may give it you for free. Its a small box which plugs into your broadband router and gives you a 3G signal everywhere in your home. However AFAIK Three only offer this to pay monthly customer, not to sim-only or PAYG users so you may need to buy one off ebay:
