OS Daily Thread Tuesday 28th January

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Not a bad sleep again so am getting there, just wish I could stop waking up before it's time to get up.

Dinner tonight is chicken and black pudding wrapped in pancetta, prepared last night to make it a bit easier. Root veggie mash out of the freezer and some green beans from same place.

Too dark to see anything but the weather sounds dire and am not looking forward to the commutes today so I better get a move on so I can take it easy on the motorway.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep warm, well and safe and have a super day :)

  • Morning all
DD came over yesterday evening, I offered to take her out but she didn't feel up to it so she came here for an hours peace & a cuppa. She's been back to the Dr's & this time seems to be getting some answers. We also had a chat about who I'm having & when & my diary is now filled in. I'm dog sitting for her when she goes on holiday later in the year & I'm dog sitting 2 days during half term so she can take the DGC out without having to worry about the dog being alone for too long.
Time I pulled by big girls knickers up & got ready for work.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all

Off to work in a few minutes , back home about 6.30 tonight

It's so dark outside I can't tell what the weathers doing , our street lights have been out on the whole road for a month and it's pitch black , I've reported it twice and still nothing

Greek yogurt and an apple for breakfast , lunch will be chicken rice

    Have a good,day everyone xx
  • Good morning all,
Frosty here this morning. It was bitterly cold yesterday.
Wm is on. Hubby will put the washing on the airer whilst i'm at work. Everywhere is tidy and was hoovered last night.
Tea tonight is mushroom curry. I made it last night so just got to heat it through and put some rice on. Nice and simple.
I had better start getting ready, off to work soon and still got to do lunch.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

  • Morning :)

    Hoover went yesterday :(

It started smoking and smelt of burning, it lasted 6 years, so no complaints. Just ordered this http://www.argos.co.uk/m/static/Search/searchTerms/VAX+U-90-MA-R.htm it's 5kg so I'm hoping I might hurt less pushing it around. My current one weights more the DD1 (15kg)!!

Not too much to do today, my osteoarthritis is playing up (I hate it, I'm too young to stuggle with walking!) so instead of play group I've decided we're staying in... I may do a bit of ironing (sitting down) when DD1 goes for a nap, but I'll take it as it comes today.

Dinner is LO Spahetti Bolognaise with Salad

Lunches are Mini Toad in the Hole for DD1 (last batch didn't stay in the freezer very long), HM Pea & Ham Soup for me, school dinner for DS.

Hope everyone has a great day :)

Still dark so not sure what the weather's up to, probably raining, it usually is. Washing will go on the airers as normal.

Chap came yesterday to look at the tree in the garden and is going to take it down in the next couple of weeks which will be good, apparently it blocks out all the light in the summer - the neighbours are delighted!

DD is off today so will go to C0stco whilst she drops her laptop off to be repaired. We may go to the cinema tonight as it is cheap Tuesday, not been for ages.

Something with mince for tea, will look in the fridge for inspiration!

Went for a walk down to the Credit Union last night, I have been paying a standing order of £10 a month for a few years and forgot all about it. anyway, turns out I have £691!!

Have a good day everyone, hugs to those not feeling so good. Take care. XX

    Morning everyone

snoozer - thinking of you and your family, big hugs x

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Now getting light, drying up under foot, sky is clear so possibly we've had a frost. It was very cold again yesterday afternoon and last night.

DH up and gone to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was easy ham, egg, chips and salad for the menfolk, I had ham, egg, jacket potato and salad. Tonight we're having LO chicken, bacon, and mushroom with pasta - I'll make the sauce from a carton of cream I have in the fridge, may then grate some cheese to sprinkle over the top once it's served, will bake some part baked rolls to go with it as they need using up. Will need to look at what we are having tomorrow night and make sure I get whatever out of the freezer.

Work was a manic Monday yesterday morning but by the middle of the afternoon had calmed down to a manageable level. Have a job to do this afternoon I'm not keen on and then again tomorrow morning - but hey ho, I'm not going to worry about it anymore, just get on with it. Had some more good fortune last night, won another £15.00 for no outlay to myself - withdrew it immediately and now won't play for a good while.

Did an on-line order for Friday afternoon as I can see the back end of this week is going to be a bit busy, we're going away Saturday morning and I'm taking the pc in to have everything transferred to the new one tomorrow afternoon. The boys xbox is now with the repairers so hoping they are able to do something with it at a reasonable cost. So looking likely I'll have loads of running around later in the week.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning :hello:

The chickens are on Flubenvet at the mo, they're not keen on it and show their displeasure by refusing to lay eggs :D In two days, we've had one egg from ten chickens :D

I've been psyshing myself up to ring the dentist, my slighty wobbly tooth has suddenly become really wobbly and is bleeding. I was hoping to put it off for a bit longer, it feels like I spent half of last year in the dentist's chair, lol. I just wanted a few months break between treatments but that's not going to happen. I'm sure a small filling – put in last year – has come out. It's on the side of a back-ish tooth (not quite the back, they were taken out. Sort of middle-back, lol) so I can't see it, even with a tiny mirror. They really should remove all my teeth, I've asked four times but they refuse :D

It's pouring with rain here. There's washing draped on radiators but more to do, I'll have to resort to putting the dryer on  :D

I'm working on a small crochet wreath at the moment. I'm not good at them and don't know why I keep trying, all I do is get frustrated and yell at them :rotfl: Must be my stubbornness, I don't like to be beaten. Even by yarn :rotfl:

    Morning!

    Snoozer - (((hugs)))

Damp out there this morning, been out to put the dustbins out on the pavement. If I leave them just on the drive they don't empty them! WM is on, another load that will have to be dried inside. Where is the Sun?

I ache today. I did two classes at the Gym last night with my free day pass, Body Combat and then Body Balance. I'm not used to such strenuous exercise (too lazy). I don't think I'll be joining though, the only thing I really liked was the treadmill and I enjoy my usual yoga class too much.

I really must clean through today, the house is looking very grubby although I did manage to do the bathrooms yesterday.

    Have a good day :)
