  • Does anybody know if I can take advantage of one of the cashplans whilst also being a member of a company BUPA scheme??

Details: We pay a monthly amount to my husband's company to have family BUPA membership. My husband is also (heavily!) taxed for having this benefit (I assume that the scheme is subsidised and he is being taxed on the bit that the company stumps up)

If I received for example treatment from an osteopath, I would have to pay the osteopath direct and then claim the amount back from BUPA (subject to strict limits etc.) Can I also claim the cost of that treatment back from the healthcare plan? In effect I pay £30 to Mr Osteopath then send copies of the receipts to BUPA and a cash plan provider and BOTH of them pay me the £30 back???

my gut instinct reply to my own question is "of course you can't!" but my moneysaving radar wants me to check that I am not missing a trick and make sure that there is not a legal and above board loophole that I can take advantage of!!!

    Any thoughts?
  • This is my 1st posting - so apologies if this appears elsewhere. I am on the Boots Vision Plan, for my monthly disposable lenses. It isn't cheap (£18.50), but I have expensive lenses due to dry eyes, and the price includes solutions and twice yearly aftercare. I priced up the on line alternatives, and there didn't seem much in it.

However, I did notice that you can now use Tesco Clubcard vouchers to join HSA. £28.50 of Clubcard vouchers buys 1 year of HSA Family Cover Level 1, which is worth £114.40. As I understand it, this means I could claim back up to 50% of my contact lens scheme costs (up to £70) - and when I rang them, they said contact lens schemes were covered within the plan. This makes it worth joining for me, but I can also claim for dental fees, osteopathy etc for myself, husband and 2 children - should the need arise over the year. I am going to join. If anyone else is interested in the scheme, the link is:

I hope this is of use to someone.

This is my first posting so apologies if I inadvertently breach etiquette. I am trying to help my elderly mother with her paper work, she has dementia. This is a bit over whelming and I am desperate for sound advice.
She has a host of policies for Hospital plan Insurance Services for which she is paying over £30 a month. She has been paying this for years. Has anyone any experience of this company as it looks like a scam to me. Any advice would be gratefully received. I am tempted to cancel them all but she has been paying for years, can I complain? Or claim?
