Virgin Media being installed whats involved

Hi I have just ordered VM (TV, BB & Phone) that will be installed in a couple of weeks. I currently have sky which will finish. I have an old NTL plastic box on the front of the house which I assume they will still use, however I want the cable to enter the house from round the back of the house which is where the lounge is. I then need to decided where I want the cable. I have 2 questions is the cable they use single Coax or is it Double like SKY or Triple (Tivo?) as this will give me an idea of thickness. I also have ordered an additional HD box for the bedroom. In my mind the easiest and neatest way to get it in is to run the cable up through the eaves. Are the Virgin engineers flexible or will they only do the bare minimum to get the job done. Thanks

The cable is fairly standard single 75Ω 1mm coax from the entry point
They're unlikely to entertain your cabling requirements IMO
Edited to mention that the phone will be a separate cableChange is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -

The cable to the bedroom will go up the front of the house as well, I very much doubt they'll go as high as the eaves.0 -
My Daughter had her Virgin sevices fitted last weekend and the lovely man fitted the wires where ever she asked. She also had it fitted in the loft bedroom, the offer of a drink goes a long way lol.RIP TJ. You my be gone, but never forgotten. Cabling to the rear externally is far easier, quicker and neater then internally on most properties, VM installer will do it without prompting.0

I dont expect the cable to enter the rear of the property,my expectation is that they will run the cable from this box around the outside of the house to the lounge at the back. There is no way I am having cable drilled through from the front and through other rooms to get to the lounge. So hopefully they will do this OK.0 -
They'll run it around the outside OK
Where you may have difficulty is getting them to do it around the eaves rather than at low level.
The rules concerning ladders safety now often make that sort of cabling an onerous task so it'll depend on ease of access to a large degree.Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -
I dont know if they still do the same, but when i had my cable installed at home, i asked them to wire up to the my bedroom, which they did.
the box is on the front of the house, and then they ran cables from the box, around the side of the house and into the back bedroom.
this of course my be more difficult for a flat or mid terrance.
This was NTL who did this rather than virgin however, so things might have changed.
I also worked for a networking company for awhile who installed networks in student houses. These were all connected to cable modems from Telewest who would run the cables to our centre point rather than the front room. What they wouldn't do is run it under floorboards. Althou we had a deal with them to allow us to run the coax and they just connected it up at the end for places where it needed to be run under the floorboards0 -
