Buyers rights, car problem...

Hi I'm hoping for some help with my buyers rights.
I bought a car,an '06 Peugeot 307 1.6 HDi,from a trader 31/12/13 and after just under 3 weeks it started hesitating then basically cut out with the "anti pollution fault" on the dash. It has been driveable at lower revs since but has just started getting worse.
Now I'm on the Peugeot forum and had some help already an the fuel cap presence sensor was 1 fault(£37 inc VAT from Peugeot) and I as told to check the DPF additive fluid level and this is where my main issue is. On checking the tank the feed pipe wasn't even connected/pushed into the tank and the tank was empty of any fluid,I've been told it takes about 3 litres costing approx £110.
So aswell as the car not running right, there's a minimum cost of £150 for parts plus any labour including resetting counters through the diagnostics for the DPF.
I've read the 'warranty' for what it's worth and that covers mechanical breakdown of specific parts.
So what rights do I have? Where do I go from here?
It's my only car and I need it for getting to work everyday which is a 30 mile round trip.
Please help and advise as I've taken the day off work to try and sort this out.
Thanks in advance for any help

Because it's an 80 mile round trip and in an ideal world it could have been a simple fix maybe by getting advice from people who are not out for profit but to genuinely help so that was my first port of call, it was only on there advice that I've been checking certain things.
Is this a case of not for for purpose,I don't really have a solid base of what to go back to the dealer with or what he could throw back at me?

Problem now is that the moment you started your fix-it-myself campaign, you unfortunately also significantly undermined your position.

Whether it is true or not, the supplying garage will now probably turn round and say "you should have brought it to us, but now you've started messing about with it how do we know you didn't break it yourself?"

I'm not being funny but where did I say I'd started fixing it??
All I've done so far is post my woes on a forum asking for help and advice from people who have already experienced these problems and look into prices for things?
What I need is some solid advice on what my argument and legal rights are.

Well you have SOGA to fall back on. 6 months from point of purchase and all that. The issue is 'fair wear and tear' so it can be their opinion "wear and tear" versus your opinion "fault" to get it fixed.

Could be a bit of a battle.

Certianly call them up and report the issue and the fact that their appears to be "disconnected stuff under the bonnet". Play dumb and see what they say. Of course you can't just run it up to them but they might be happy to pay for a diagnostic in the first instance then take another view.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

To be fair, your post does read as if you've already done the fuel cap sensor and poked around on the DPF fluid reservoir - fair enough to do this I suppose.

If the dpf fluid hasn't been getting into the fuel system, then it could have blocked the EGR and even the dpf itself. The fluid level should be checked/topped up at service - was a service done before you bought it? I'd expect you'd have to pay something toward the fluid - it is a routine top-up service item after all.

But whether you have a good argument that the pipe being off, is something he dealer has done knowingly, or should be under warranty is something you need a legal mind to tell you. With due respect to the members on here, most aren't properly qualified in this respect, but many do have a good knowledge of the various consumer laws, so don't be put off, I'm sure somebody will be along to advise. FWIW, I think you need to get in touch with the dealer & (calmly) sound them out...

To be honest you should have stopped using the car at the first sign of this problem and contacted the dealer, you have been running it in limp mode by the sound of it which won't be doing the car a ny favours. Call the dealer now and tell them that this fault has just occurred and you want it fixing, you never know they may get it fixed without arguement. If you have ny problem getting a repair you may well have recourse via soga.

Oh one other thing to ask is, it was purchased with a credit card.
I remember something about being protected if you buy something and use your card with at least £100 etc
Can someone explain that to me please ?

I took what you said here:
Now I'm on the Peugeot forum and had some help already an the fuel cap presence sensor was 1 fault(£37 inc VAT from Peugeot) and I as told to check the DPF additive fluid level and this is where my main issue is. to mean you'd already done something with the cap sensor, and had been playing around with the DPF additive tank.

If that's not an accurate reflection of what you meant, you could perhaps edit the original post to suit?

And please don't get into a tizz about it, I WAS trying to help you with some advice. You don't have to listen to it.

That's fine I wasn't being funny,if I'm sounding a bit short it's only because I'm trying to sort things as quickly as possible so apologies and yes I am taking all advice on board.
The only fiddling has been paying for a diagnostic check and that's what revealed the cap sensor and other faults which is why I asked the questions and then had a look myself after advice at the tank itself.
To be honest I do feel like I'm not going to have any joy.
